Tools and Hardware Reviews of Peltor 97079 Combat Arms EarplugsCustomer Review: Comfortable, economical and effective Summary: 5 Stars
I bought 3 pair for myself, my wife and my daughter. These function well for all of us. My daughter and wife are not quite 5'2" and I'm a monster at 6'4" and 250#. No comfort or fit issues. Very satisfied.
Customer Review: Compact & Convenient Summary: 5 Stars
Use these on the range the green side is good off the line as you can carry on conversations, the yellow side is great when shooting on the line since there maybe other shooters on either side. Work great without the earmuff syndrome.
Customer Review: Could be better Summary: 3 Stars
I purchased these for demolition work in and around my house. The hammer hitting a prybar indoors is quite a shock to the ear. The good news is that these definitely help dampen the spike in decibels, so they do their job well. The rest unfortunately is rather bad. They're quite uncomfortable and you really have to jam them in there to be totally useful. They also slip out over short periods of time so I'm constantly pushing them back in. I imagine over the course of continuous use, these would end up causing some kind of earwax blockage with the constant re-seating of the plugs.
In the end, for me, these are fine. I use them for the occasional demo work and sometimes when dumping all the glass and recyclables into the larger bin. I can't comment on whether they work too well with firearms, but I imagine the sound of the hammer on the prybar is in the same decibel range as a round from a gun being fired.
Customer Review: Decent Earplugs Summary: 4 Stars
Think of them as really good earplugs (gray side) and diet earplugs (yellow side). I just spent 5 hours on the range. The gray side works like normal earplugs; the yellow side lets you hear normal conversation that's a bit muffled. When the shooting starts, the shots aren't as sharp as normal and your ears won't ring, if they're inserted properly. I'm used to a solid earplug, not the Christmas Tree shape that these have. They tickled my ears a bit, but I can get used to them. They'd be perfect if they had a string between them so I could pull them out and let them hang on my hat band when not in use.
Customer Review: Didn't work for me Summary: 1 Stars
Well, not to be contrary to all the other feedback here but, these just didn't work for me. I tried them outside when using the snowblower and there was practically no reduction in noise at all. In fact, cheapie foam plugs were at least twice as good. Also quite uncomfortable. Given the poor performance outside, I decided not to risk my ears at the range! It may be just my particular ears but these are useless to me.
