Tools and Hardware Reviews of Peltor H10A Optime 105 Over-the-Head Earmuff

Customer Review: Best hearing protector on the market
Summary: 5 Stars

This is by far the best hearing protector on the market. I use this type of audio frequency sound reduction device to help me concentrate better in the office, and at home, and it works. Before trying this Peltor H10A 30 DB unit, I was using the usual headset hearing protector, but now I have replaced that and upgraded to this model, and it works so much better. Peltor has designed a soft cushion type ear covering unit that has an excellent fit, and does a super job of cutting out all audio sounds, and I can really now super concentrate. Now the clincher, most all my office associates have had me order this unit for them, and with the free currrent shipping from Amazon (promotional only during this time period), you can't beat the price, and I've ordered some 12-15 for my office associates. Great product! Would be excellent for the gun range also. I haven't been to the gun range for awhile; but I am licensed, have a hand-gun, and will take this Peltor H10A with me when I go.

Customer Review: Best muffs I've used
Summary: 5 Stars

I've been wearing muffs while mowing, chainsawing, tilling, woodworking or using other power equipment for probably 15 years. These Peltor muffs are much more effective and more comfortable than the inexpensive muffs that I've used over the years. I wear them for 3 or 4 hours at a time - and forget I'm wearing them.

Customer Review: Best noise cancelling I've ever bought...
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this from Amazon after buying some from Home Depot that didn't do a very good job... these work much better and I wish I found them earlier!!! I used to listen to classical music to block noise but that ruined my ears and now I have tinnitus !!!
These are awesome...

Customer Review: Best purchase I made in a long time
Summary: 5 Stars

This is the best investment into my shop I have made. I do a ton of metal fabrication and these work great. The fit is fantastic and noise reduction is amazing. Being able to quickly put on and take off has resulted in me using every time I am grinding or cutting. I will never buy anythin else for hearing protection again

Customer Review: Better than "Noise Cancelling" headphones
Summary: 5 Stars

I used these for a year or so while drilling and sawing and they were fantastic for that. Also I have a very big head and they are quite comfortable for 2-3 hours, especially considering how much noise they cancel. My pair is one of my favorite posessions. I've had mine for at least 7 years now and worn them almost every day and they are showing minimal signs of wear besides the usual scuff marks from throwing them around.

But these really went to another level when I put the ear-pieces from a pair of run-of-the mill walkman-style Sennheiser PX100 (or similar) headphones inside - WOW! I tried several active noise-canceling headphones, including the ear bud ones, the BOSE, and the Sennheisers (noise canceling) and none held a candle to the reduction of both high and low-frequency noise that these delivered. And the walkman-style Sennheisers sound great and just fit inside these protectors with minimal modification. Just pop the foam-covered headphones off the Sennheisers (a tiny screwdriver helps) and push them into the foam inside the Peltors letting the wire dangle out. I made a ridge out of electrical tape to keep them from sliding forward. The whole thing cost me under $70.

They aren't exactly stylish, but they enabled me to get my music composition degree while riding the train for 2 hours each day and composing on my laptop. I could listen to symphonies with ppp (quiet) and fff (loud) sections without adjusting the volume while people chatted on their cell phones next to me. I could still hear them talking but it was about as loud as my own breathing. I think the BOSE cut out a little more of the very low rumble of the train and looked cooler, but I still had to crank the music to hear the soft parts and turn it down at the loud parts. I could set the volume much quieter with the Peltors and still hear everything.
