I had an all-plastic type of this paper towel holder (Easi Tear), and it lasted 5 years. I was hoping to get the same thing, but it is no longer available. I bought this one thinking it would be the same thing. It is mostly metal, but the integral part of the ratchet is made of plastic. It is now broken, two months after I bought it. Buyer beware, I should have known it was garbage by the price, I think I paid more for the all-plastic one years ago.Customer Review: Chrome Paper Towel Holder

This is a neat towel holder. It has a ratcheting device to keep the paper towels from spinning. So you get one towel or two, whatever you want without the roll spinning off to China. You have to get use to the noise, but the noise level decreases with use and it's not bad after a while. I would recommend this if you are looking for a really good towel dispenser.
