Tools and Hardware Reviews of Petzl E86 PR Tikka XP Headlamp, RedCustomer Review: By one for you and it makes a great gift Summary: 5 Stars
I live in the boonies and this thing is great for finding firewood at night or taking the trash out to the road on trash night. I've had other Petzl headlamps before (lost it) and this one is a big improvement. The narrow beam gives a long distance illumination and the wide beam easily covers any close in space. Those features are new and worth the upgrade price. Get one for you and keep a few around for when you don't know what to get someone for a gift. It makes a great gift because everyone needs one. Even folks who rarely use a flashlight will appreciate the fact that, due to long battery life and led bulbs, this light will always work, even if it has been left in a drawer for a year.
Customer Review: Good Not great Summary: 3 Stars
i got the sand colored one but other than that its the same light. Many reviewers said that is was a supper bright light. well it is but only in turbo mode and for that you must keep your finger on the button (cant let go). The low light is good for reading especially with the diffuser on (i keep the white on the light and the red in the clip). the high is good for walking around even looking at far distances. But its not a replacement for a good old hand mag light 6D. i knot its about 100X lighter, but i don't know if its worth $50.00. its a good light if you want yuor hands free and it is light and will stay on your head, just don't head bang. it would be the perfect light for $20.00, but since that will never happen lets say $30.00. if you want a small lightweight headlamp for working on your car or changing a flat on the highway at night or going for a stroll i would grab a 2AA mag light a headband and some duct tape, and with the change buy a LED something or another for the serious light. 10-15 vs 45. or just get the Petzl E49P TacTikka Plus its almost as god but cheaper and might go down even more. you don't really need all the diffusers.
Customer Review: Great Functionality. Summary: 5 Stars
I have had the basic Tikka model, and then the Tikka Plus (actually still have both and use as a backup), however the Tikka XP is the best yet. Quite an improvement over the Tikka Plus model. Have read some review that knock this for weight. This would only be an issue for trail running. Other than that, I didn't notice the increase in weight over the Tikka Plus. There may be a better light but I have not come across one that is this small and light weight. I don't think anyone would be disappointed with this light. Just got back from 1-1/2 weeks in the Minnesota Boundary Waters canoeing with multiple portages a day, no issue with the switch turning the light on, which was in some review I had read as well.
Customer Review: Great Headlamp Summary: 5 Stars
You usually get what you pay for. This case is no exception. I LOVE this headlamp. It's easy to turn off/on when it's on your head. The tilt adjustment stays where you set it. Very easy to readjust the tilt while it's on your head. Bright enough for having to get around in the dark.
Customer Review: Great headlamp Summary: 5 Stars
Best headlamp I've ever owned. Lightweight, easy to use, efficient, nice light pattern. I highly recommend it.
