Customer Review: A mixed bag, er towel
Summary: 3 Stars
These towels have definite pros and cons. I don't regret buying them, but won't be buying more.
Pro:
1) Soft, soft, soft! If a super-silky-soft towel is what you want, look no further. I've never used a softer towel.
2) Incredible color. I got "Mediterranean", it's a deep blue/teal. Super-saturated color you'll never see with 100% cotton. (Of course it you get white or a light color, that doesn't matter.)
3) They don't get "crunchy" after using them a few days in a row.
Con:
1) The most annoying thing about these towels is that they're very slippery on dry skin, but very "grabby" on wet skin. As you're drying off, once your hands are dry you'll have a difficult time hanging on to it, which can get frustrating.
2) They shed little tufts of fiber until they've been laundered 5-6 times.
Other thoughts:
I wash mine in hot water with no problems.
They're heavy.
About "bamboo":
It's very misleading to call these "bamboo" - - bamboo is used for a source of cellulose, which is then processed with lye, carbon disulfide, and sulfuric acid to make rayon, a semisynthetic fiber. The towels are NOT made from bamboo fibers, although that's what they'd probably like you to believe. Bamboo-based textiles are not antimicrobial, or made in an environmentally friendly manner, or biodegradable.
