Tools and Hardware Reviews of Porter-Cable FCN200 Pneumatic Flooring Cleat NailerCustomer Review: Eric Summary: 5 Stars
Well, I just completed 500 sq feet using this nailer. It was terrific! The issue with the last nail straying never occurred. I was surprized to find that the remaining nail just dropped out without any problem. As for the use, it was very user friendly. I give this a thumbs up with delivery and quality.
Customer Review: Excellent Summary: 5 Stars
This is a great must have tool for DIY wood floors. While every company that's in the tool business seems to make a nailer (Senco, Bostitch, etc.), what sets the Porter-Cable apart is it's balance and civilized look. The look doesn't matter, but if you don't want to mar the wood floors by having a tool keel over and damage the floor, then this is the tool to get.
The "last nail" comment is a very true. If you try to drive that single last nail, unpredictable results may occur. In my case, I had to throw the piece away (actually cut it for the closet), since the last nail went in almpst parallel to the surface of the wood and skimmed the finish off the top. If the wood hadn't been there, it probably would have shot across the room.
Finally, although the pneumatic nailers save you from backbreaking hammering, the nose takes more than just a light tap. A slightly sharp wack will drive the nails perfectly. Too soft and the nails don't get driven all the way. Too hard, and I'd be afraid that the tool would get damaged.
One more item to note is that depending on the hardness of the wood flooring, you will have to adjust the air pressure to prevent cracked tongues. This isn't a FCN200 issue, but just generally true overall.
Highly recommended.
Review Update:
After 4 years or so, the tool is still as good as the first day I bought it. My initial personal project was about 800-1000 sf. I'm now past 2500 sf (helped two friends install their floors in family/living rooms) installed and another 1500 sf or so more to go for my own house.
This is a professional tool and the quality shows. I haven't had to have it rebuilt or order parts. Clean it ocassionally and use oil and an air filter and forget about it.
Review Update 2:
Still going strong after 7 years now. In fact, I had some floor professionally installed (about 2,000 sf) and the Ramm (something or other) that the installers were using broke on them. They ended up using my nailer for the last 1,500 sf. The installers commented that they liked the FCN200 nailer better.
Customer Review: Excellent Pneumatic Floor Nailer Summary: 5 Stars
I have used this tool to install 1000 square feet of 2&1/4 red oak hardwood flooring and have found it to be an excellent tool. There is an issue as other posts have stated with the last nail. What I found usually would happen is that when then second to last nail is driven, when moving the nailer to the next spot on the floor for nailing, the last nail falls out of the nailer. This is usually not a problem and a good way to know that it is time to load more nails. There can be a problem if you slide the nailer along to move it to the next position in which case when you hit the nailer plunger, the nail may be driven awkwardly into the finished portion of the wood requiring you to rip out the piece of damaged wood. This happened to me twice during my install. I figured it was my fault for not monitoring the nail supply closely enough. I did experience one nail jamb with this same scenario and it was easily fixed with the supplied wrench. In my opinion, to have only 3 issues with over 7,000 nails driven, is an excellent score (99.96% success rate). I highly recommend this tool.

I purchased this nailer to install a 3/4" prefinished hardwood floor. It worked very well. I put about 1500 nails through it and it never gave a problem. The only issue is it does not have a case. All my Bostich guns have a case and it would have been nive to have one for this to store it in.
Customer Review: Excellent tool Summary: 4 Stars
This tool works extremely well; I hooked it up, loaded the clip, and fired away! Reccomended 100 PSI worked excellent for 3/4" boards. Just as in other reviews, you need to make sure nails are in the clip as the the last single nail will fall out. The base is set for 3/4" and non-adjustable. Would give 4.5 stars if available due to the two issues.
Overall highly reccomended for 3/4" flooring.
