Tools and Hardware Reviews of Powerbuilt 648796 Honda Crankcase Pulley Removal ToolCustomer Review: Excellent Tool!!! Summary: 5 Stars
This tool works as advertised. However, even with this tool, removing the crankshaft pulley bolt was a pain. I broke two extension bars. I thought the breaker bar was going to break, but after jumping on it a couple of times, the crankshaft pulley bolt finally broke loose. Installation is a breeze, just make sure you apply oil to the threads and torque the bolt correctly. The tool hold up pretty well.
Customer Review: Excellent tool for a tough job. Summary: 5 Stars
This tool turned what would have been a very, very tough if not impossible job into a 5 minute cinch. I would definitely recommend this to someone who needs to remove their crank pulley.
Customer Review: Excellent tool for removing crankshaft pulley Summary: 5 Stars
Without this tools, it would have been virtually impossible for me to remove the crankshaft pulley from my 1998 Honda Civic. Even with this, it required using a long breaker bar and a pipe cheater on the 1/2" ratchet. The force needed to remove the bolt was unbelievable. I can't see how such a force could be applied to the pulley without using this tool. Great Price!
Customer Review: Excellent tool to change your timing belt Summary: 5 Stars
Without this tool, it is impossible to remove the 19mm bolt that is fastened through the crankshaft pulley. You need two breaker bars to use this one.
Impact wrench can not remove this one and I can attest to that. Buy this one and you won't regret it. This will fit on Honda CR-V as well...of course most Honda Civics I think...
This will save you a couple of hours banging that bolt....
Customer Review: Excellent! Summary: 5 Stars
Did a timing belt change on my 99 CRV. Repair manual said to use a chain type holding tool. No way would that work. Searched around the internet and everywhere. They all wanted $90+ for it. Then found this one on amazon. Worked EXCELLENT! Had to use a 7 foot pipe slipped on to a breaker bar. That bolt was tight! No way I could hold that pulley without this special tool. Since the bolt was so tight, I thought it was turn "clockwise" to loose, so I called the dealer. They said it was the standard "counter clockwise" to remove.
