Tools and Hardware Reviews of Powerbuilt 648796 Honda Crankcase Pulley Removal Tool

Customer Review: Far cheaper in price, not quality, compared to Honda's version.
Summary: 5 Stars

Bought it because it was under $20 bucks and Honda's version was almost $100. Since it's a tool and not a part actually going into the engine, I decided to go the cheaper route and it paid off. This tool is solid and held the crank pulley on my 1999 Odyssey without a problem.

I was able to do the timing belt job without any problems from the dreaded crank pulley thanks to this tool. Do not hesitate to buy it, it will work just fine. It will not twist, deform or break. It is SOLID.

Customer Review: Flimsy product
Summary: 1 Stars

its better to get a double impact air hammer that is rated above 650lbs of tq.
this item when wedge against the chassis tends to move around and will marr the corners of the crank pulley.

Customer Review: Functional tool
Summary: 3 Stars

This tool is fine for occasional use. It falls out if you don't hold it in place until you have your breaker bar braced against the car frame or the floor and pressure on the tool. If you are going to be doing this work on a regular basis spend the extra money to get the Honda tool.

Customer Review: GREAT tool!
Summary: 5 Stars

If you are considering removing the crankshaft pulley from your Honda engine, don't even think twice about getting this tool - especially if you are removing the pulley solo. I had a 6' pipe on a breaker bar and all of my weight to get my pulley bolt loose. This tool did a great job of holding the pulley in place (with a smaller breaker bar firmly planted against the sub-frame). For the time and aggravation this tool saved, it was well worth the cost.

Summary: 5 Stars

I have replaced timing belts before w/o this tool. But my 04 civic's pulley bolt would not budge no matter what I tried.(I tried having someone hold the brakes while I used a breaker bar then an electric impact then broke a socket with the breaker bar even after I got the tool I twisted off a craftsman ext.) My advice is to get the tool in advance it makes the job easy. I held the tool with a Craftsman 1/2 in drive against the frame. Then used a pipe extension on an 18" breaker bar. This bolt is torqued to 180 ft lbs. at the factory. It got the best of me
