The output rating for this adapter is 1000ma or 1 amp which is about 1/10 of the power available from the battery in a car through the cigarette lighter socket. This is why a few reviewers found that it would not power their high-power devices such as air inflators and spotlights. However, it is ideal for lower power consumption devices such as GPS and most cell phones and it allows you to take them on trips without having to drag along all their associated AC adapters.

Depending which direction your outlets are you may not be able to use this. Make sure that is you have two vertical slats that there is enough room between the floor and the outlet for this to fit in. Otherwise, works fine.Customer Review: VERY GOOD

This item is a neccesity for anyone who travels and doesn't want to lug around all the A/C adaptors for all thier battery powered electronics. Just about anything you have a power adaptor for your car for can be used on 115 VAC with this adaptor. This is a TRUE 1000 mA adaptor which makes it more useful than some of the less powerful adaptors available here and elsewhere. Remember the more(or higher) the mA (Mili-Amph) rating the better it is to run electronic devices. The "enhanced digital power" is also another good feature.
