The best way to describe this clamps is...It's like a "c clamp you dont have to thread up and down. Just a quick squeeze and poof, your locked down.The release can be done with one finger, how simple is that?A spring clamp of this size would take some real brawn to line up and clamp. Not this one people, it's as easy as squeezing toothpaste from a tube.It wont rust or leave those c clamp dimples we all hate.It' plenty big,wont mar your work and the jaw ends pivot for a good fit.Way to go American Tool, this ones a hit.I cant wait to see whats next.Now get out there and clamp away.Customer Review: Best thing since sliced bread...

I saw a bin of these in the store a couple months ago and, since they were cheap, decided to get one. I was amazed at the versatility of this clamp. It's at least as easy to use as a spring clamp - but it clamps as hard as you squeeze it. They work great for holding straight edges for routing or sawing and they never slip. It's like someone took a plastic spring clamp and a pair of vise grips and mated them! I'd give this tool 6 stars if I could.Note: my original clamps were useless after a few months because the little springs fell out. However, they have improved the design so that this doesn't happen anymore.

1 star is too many if you want to use these as clamps!
I have a set of these clamps that I bought thinking they looked handy. They are handy, but if you want them to hold something in place you can not let go of the grips. Every time I have used them I want to squeeze them to one more notch on the ratchet. So far I have not found a good use for these clamps except to keep extension cords coiled and separate.

As noted in some of the other reviews, these clamps do not apply that much pressure. As such, they do not work well (or at all)for some applications. When I used them to secure pieces to a workbench for chiseling, they would lose their grip after a limited number of strokes.That said, these clamps work very well in other situations. I find that these are the best clamps for securing plywood to sawhorses when cutting with a jig or circular saw. They can be applied and removed within seconds, speeding up the work flow immensely. These clamps would be worth purchasing for that application alone.
