Tools and Hardware Reviews of Racor PHL-1R Pro HeavyLift 4-by-4-Foot Cable-Lifted Storage RackCustomer Review: Easy Lift Summary: 5 Stars
This is such a good product I purchased a second one after installing the first one.
Customer Review: Easy To Install Summary: 5 Stars
This was a very easy install. The lift went up in about an hour - the hardest part being the up and down the ladder routine. I used clamps to hold the bars to the bottom of the roof beams and easily put in all of the required lag screws. Initially the diagrams for the cabling seemed confusing, but once you actually did the install it all made sense. A very well made unit that I would recommend to all.
Customer Review: Easy installation Summary: 5 Stars
A friend and I installed one of these a couple of weeks ago. Neither of us are self professed handy women, but we found the installation extremely easy. I'm glad there were two of us to hold the arms up while we attached the lag bolts, but I think I could do it on my own if I had to. It was also nice to have that second person there for the initial raising of the platform because the cables were wrapping unevenly and she was able to guide them while I cranked the unit up. All total we spent less than two hours installing the lift. The last half hour was spent leveling the platform. I may be okay with a drill, but levels boggle my mind.
Customer Review: Excellent Lift; Minor design flaw Summary: 4 Stars
As stated by many, this product is worth the investment. Can be raised/lowered by hand, or by attaching your power-drill to the handle - a nice feature. I have 14 foot ceilings and this works great. Difficult to put up by one-person, but can be done. The center "axle" does need extra bracing - a simple piece of angle iron does the trick, but should be done. Otherwise, you can see the axle bowing in the middle when under tension (the axle is actually 2 pieces of steal pushed and bolted together). Additionally, the included lag-bolts do not appear long or strong enough. I purchased longer lags and drilled those into the joists. Other than that, a great product. I would recommend putting up more than one if your garage can accomodate it.
Customer Review: Excellent for Seasonal Gear Summary: 4 Stars
Product was easy to install and works very well. The only thing I would suggest changing is adding one additional support rail in the middle. Even with the 250 lb capacity, heavy items can cause the rack to bow a bit toward the middle.
I use it to store items I don't use often during certain seasons - snow blower , lawn mower, power washer, pancake compressor.
