Like other reviewers stated this reel requires some assembly, which I didn't mind. The instructions were excellent, total assembly takes about 30 minutes. Parts all look and feel durable (you get what you pay for!) The reel mounted inside my garage on the drywall really easy and looks great to. All lag bolts are conveniently included! The hose pulls out and rewinds with very little effort.
The only problem I had was a minor leak only when the water was turned off. Even after draining the hose the pressure and gravity I suppose caused a small drip around a small brass allen screw on the center reel fitting? I removed the screw wrapped it with teflon plumbers tape then tightened it. The leak is now gone!
I would highly recommend this hose reel if you are willing to spend the extra $$ to buy a reel that will last for years to come and you want to eliminate water running across your garage floor... 4 stars due to the minor leak.

I wish everything was as well designed and manufactured as this item.
It was easy to put together, easy to mount to our brick, exterior wall and it operates just as you would hope that it would. The reel action is smooth and it even has an adjustable brake that prevents it from inadvertently unreeling.
This is so much better than the Suncast, plastic reel that it replaced.

After an exhausting search to find a durable,quality hose reel, we settled on this one based on all the rave reviews. It is THE best made hose reel we have ever seen. Only 10 minutes to put together. Our friend is a carpenter and told us to mount the base vertically on the siding for even better support, especially because our house is older and doesn't have the 16" spaced studs like newer homes have. Stop looking now - This is a fantastic Hose reel and I have had a few of them. I can hardly believe someone still makes a hose reel this well made for such a moderate price.
