These shades are better than I expected. They're a bit thicker and sturdier than I thought they'd be. EASY to install. I measured out the window and used the measurements that are right on the shade to cut. I used a serrated kitchen knife to do it.
I have a nice bamboo shade that I ordered to fit on the inside of my window. What I didn't know is that at night with the lights on you can see right thru it. I didn't have anymore room in the window to mount a regular pull down of blinds. I didn't want to get anything to cover the blinds since the reason I got them is because they look nice, not to cover them up. We thought about curtains, but the bamboo style we got is made to fly solo. Slapped two of these in (its a double window) and they fit right in there nice and work great. Not sure if I would use them by themselves, unless it was temporary or strapped for cash.

I really liked these shades but I had two of them up for about a month when they both fell down. After trying several adhesives that I had, I replaced them with the extra paper shades that I had stored. This would be a great product if it had better adhesive.Customer Review: I did it myself!

I have been needing new shades for quite awhile, but have put it off because I am so not handy. When I saw these, I thought I might actually be able to do the job, and if I didn't, I wouldn't be out that much. I needed to put 2 into one big window. I couldn't figure out how to overlap them, so I put one up full size and trimmed one. Trimming was the hardest part. I didn't buy the trim tool and now wish I had. I did get the job done with a combination utility knife, serrated knife, and scissors. Don't look too closely at it, but I did get the job done. One of the sticky pads didn't want to hold and I didn't want to hold it long enough to get it to stick. I have a dust mop with an extension handle, so I put it on the sill and extended the handle up to the shade and tightened it. I left it for several hours and it is now sticking. The best part is I was able to resolve any difficulties I encountered. I feel proud of myself and I even slept later this morning because the room was darker! I hope it keeps my son's dog from getting me up early when he visits!Customer Review: It is easy and it works!

I have used this in my daughter's room and in my living room for the past two summers and it makes a huge difference on the power bill.
The late afternoon sun & 20' ceilings in my living room make it more like an oven than a living area. I put these shades underneath the mini blnds for 1/2 of the windows in the room. Before I used these my AC couldn't keep up to keep the house at 73 degrees. It would always get up to 77 or 78. With these on though, it is so cool & comfortable.
What's even greater is that I can take them down once summer is over and put them back up the following year.
They are very EASY to install - less than 10 minutes.
***I highly recommend that you clean the area that the adhesive strip will stick to with alcohol before you hang these. A clean area helps the adhesiveness last longer.
