Customer Review: Blocks Sunlight As Advertised Summary: 5 Stars
It's been up for a month now, and we're very pleased with this shade! The direct sunlight streaming through the window turns into pleasantly diffused light. It's made of sturdy paper, but very nice-looking, and looking up at it, texture's almost like the honeycomb shades.
As other reviewers noted, cut after measuring the window and the shade, don't use the built-in measurement tape. Place in clear holder, peel, stick, and voila. Stays firmly put, no issues with falling off or buckling, and ours is a large window (I only cut off one inch). Great temporary shade that looks custom-made.
Customer Review: Cheap and works, but not so great Summary: 3 Stars
This product is very easy to install; however, it does have some issues. The package is easy to open and the product is easy to cut, but my measuring tape and the grid on this shade did not match. I used the length in my tape to cut the shade (I measured a 29" window and ended up cutting the shade at 30.25"). It took 1-3 minutes to cut through all the layers with a utility knife. It was pretty easy. After I peeled some of the adhesive backing off, I placed the shade in the plastic support. I then placed the shade in the window and removed the rest of the adhesive. No problems...until the shade fell. The adhesive stayed on the bottom, but the top flopped down. This happened within 5 minutes. I got some nails and placed 5 in the window frame. So far it is being held up.
This is a cheap solution to filter light from an arch window. It is made of paper so it will not last forever. Installation is easy and it can be cut to size. It does need support. If you have some thin nails (like the ones used for putting the cardboard backing on store bought shelves) use them! I added a few to the bottom of the shade so I have supports along the sides of the "fan" and so it will stay in place.
Customer Review: Does not stay up and rips easily Summary: 2 Stars
Recently purchased the 36x72 inch shade. It was up for about two days and fell down. The shade ripped very easily when we tried to put it back up. Nice product for days days and did cut out the light, but would not purchase again. Waste of money.
Customer Review: Easy Installation, but have to handle with care. Great look for cheap vs shutters.. Summary: 4 Stars
I was contemplating to have shutters installed on my arc window above my front door. The shutter company quoted me $900 installed for one 72" long arched shutter. That's when I found this product listed on amazon. It was a no brainer for me to choose this instead of the shutters.
Pros:
Cheap
Looks good
Easy Installation
Cons:
Works best if perfect arc circle/ if it not, it will over extend pass the window at certain points
Paper is easy wrinkled/ got to handle with care
Overall this is a great product. Provide shade and privacy. Would recommend.
