We just built a house in the country and of course right now there is lots of mud. With 2 large dogs, a 5 year old, and a husband I can never keep the hardwoods cleaned. I bought this mop even though I have seen complaints from all the models on the streaking.
Yes it does streak and leave a film if you use tap water. The main difference is how much work it takes to get the muck off the floor. Instead of scrubbing and breaking a sweat all that caked on mud comes right off usually in one or two passes of the mop. That in itself sold me since I can sweep steam mop and then I go over the whole thing with the orange glow cloth to get it to shine up. I just enjoy that it helps the reduce the amount of stress on my back from having to scrub all that mud and gunk off the floor before.
If there is a good way to reduce the amount of streaking I would love to know. I have tried using vinegar but that doesn't do a great job and then the house smells like pickled stuff afterwards.

I think this is a great mop and really like the fact that it cleans with steam and not chemicals. The only complaint I have is that the cord is not as long as I would like for it to be and at times, I have trouble getting the pads to stay on as tightly as I would like. Overall, it is a wonderful product and I would highly recommend it.Customer Review: Great product

Before purchasing this product I reviewed a few others. Originally I intended to purchase another similar product which has been lately running infomercials on TV. The customer reviews were not very good for that product, so I opted for this one, despite the lack of the steaming unit's ability to be detached and portable.
The Reliable had better consumer ratings so I went with that. I am totally pleased. The product arrived quickly, was very easy to pit together (2 screws) and has worked fine ever since. The micro-pads are easily hand-washed until a machine wash is necessary. Extra points for Reliable for including extra grommets for the steam tank (where it snaps in) and an additional micro pad. Laso, kudos for having a handle on the face of the unit for easy pick-up and regulation... also great to see ties available for the rather long (thankfully) AC cord.
Overall, and excellent product that does what it claims to do!

Used my new steamboy on the white ceramic tile floor in two bathrooms and was very pleased with the result. It left the tile including the grout lines spotless. The pad picked up the dirt very well. There was no more residual dampness on the floor than when I use a swiffer wet jet.The pad is constructed of good quality microfiber with a slip lock cord to hold it in place. Other reviewers reported that they had difficulty with the pad slipping off. That was not my experience as the pad stayed firmly in place through use in 2 large bathrooms. The unit is light and very maneuverable. Pushing it over the floors required no more effort than the swiffer. Despite being light this is a sturdy and well constructed steam mop. All in all, my expectations were exceeded.Customer Review: Great product!

The Steamboy works great! Easy to use and cleans well. Start off with hot water in the tank - it helps speed up the process significantly. I've used it on tile and my laminate hardwood floors. The pads wash up easily but DON'T put them in the dryer or they will never fit a second time!
