Customer Review: Terrible Performance
Summary: 1 Stars

This product is not worth purchasing. It claims to have a range of 1000', however, there is no way the performance supports that unless it's in an open area with no obstacles. I purchased this product for my father to use to communicate with my mother while working in the garage. The distance was less than 300'. The signal faded, crackled, and eventually was lost. Very disappointing. I returned the products the same day.

Customer Review: This intercom is a really great product!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is my first ever Amazon review - mostly because I'm way too busy in life to sit down and write a recommendation for the 101 products I have in my house. When I bought the Chamberlain Wireless Intercom system, I did so because of a review that another Amazon buyer had left. I read all the feedback and then trusted his comments. Luckily, he was RIGHT! This wireless system is excellent. I replaced a NOVI intercom that finally took to crackling and failing after 5 years of use. I wasn't too disappointed with the NOVI, but I wanted something that was wireless, easy to use, and dependable. The Chamberlin intercoms arrived, I put lithium batteries in them, and had them hung up and in use within 15 minutes. I was immediately amazed at the voice power and the clarity of the system. You actually have to speak in a normal to low voice or it's almost overwhelming. I have one intercom in my kitchen and the other one 800 feet away in my horse stable where I give riding lessons. With the ease of the one button push, my kids can keep in touch from the house and my students can contact me from the barn. It's a wonderful product that exceeded my expectations. I'll be interested to see how long the batteries last (company suggests one whole year). Overall I'm very pleased and I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a way to communicate via intercom.

Customer Review: Very good product
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased this item, as well at two additional units, for my house and am very satisfied with them. I have two units in the lower level and two upstairs and they all work very well. You may have some interferance if the units are too close to other electrical components, but you don't have to move them very far away to eliminate it. For example, the unit next to my computer was also very close to my computer light. I only had to move it a couple of feet away from the lamp and all interference stopped. The two units with the most distance separation are about 100 feet apart and on separate levels of the house with plenty of walls and flooring between them. They still work perfectly well with each other. Overall this has been a good purchase decision.

Customer Review: Very satisfied, so far
Summary: 5 Stars

Product was easy to set up and, after one month, has worked flawlessly. I'll probably buy two more sets for use in other rooms of the house.

Update February 2011: These units have continued to work well. They emit short beeps when batteries need replacing. I don't understand why such a good product is no longer available.

Customer Review: WARNING if you intend to use 3 or more units.
Summary: 1 Stars

For anyone that intends to use 3 or more of these, don't buy this product. While this may be a 4 Channel Intercom, a Channel does not equal a Location. Basically these are stationary walkie talkies. One would think that you could "Program" the first Unit to Channel 1 and the second unit to Channel 2, the third Unit to Channel 3 and so on. Then for instance label the first unit as follows (Location 2 = Channel 2 | Location 3 = Channel 3 | Location 4 = Channel ). Next, on the first unit you would select the Location/Channel of your choice and press the talk button. It's very sad to say but this product WAS NOT designed this way. While you can set Unit 1 to Channel 1 (or any other Channel for that matter), it's really not practical, it's simply to easy to change Channels.

As a previous reviewer stated to effectively use this product you must place all 4 units in Paging Mode. Then when you want to talk to someone you press the Talk button, the tone will be sent to all 4 units. When the first unit/person responds, the two units will go into secure mode. But unless you recognize the other persons' voice you have no idea which unit responded.

I'm returning mine.......
