Tools and Hardware Reviews of Rockwell RK9000 Jawhorse

Customer Review: Can't be beat!
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this for my husband. It is well build and can't be beat. It is made in the US. It is well build, durable, and can be used for many uses one would not think of until they saw the video that we saw on TV advertising the product. Wish we had seen the ad when this first came out. It is so well planed out. The three legs for stability is just plane genius. In the past, balancing the sawhorse by putting boards under one or more legs was a pain. Now just open the sawhorse and put it where ever you want and it's balanced. It is slightly heavy but that's because it is so well built. My husband is over two hundred pounds and he can stand on it. The push handle to tighten the work down is another wonderful feature. Both hands can hold the object while your foot pumps the jaws tighter to hold the object. As is shows in the video, it can get tight enough to hold an egg but not break the shell. Now how can you beat that? You can't beat this sawhorse.

Customer Review: Can't get it to unlock/release
Summary: 2 Stars

I've seen this piece of equipment in the infomercial and took a look at it at Lowe's. It looked great. So I purchased it. No one is ever around when I want to fix something. I figure this is just the extra set of hands. Yup! I used it for a couple hours and was really excited that I'd made such a good choice. However, yesterday I went out to demonstrate it's wonder, put in a piece of wood and clamped. So far so good. Unlocked it to take piece of wood out and pressed the foot peddle. Nothing! I've pressed it again. I've relocked and unlocked it again. Pressed again. Nothing. Now I can't get the piece of wood out.
I called the Rockwell customer service, sat listening to this fellow telling how to make iced tea [recorded]. Then they tell me I can leave my number and they'll call back within one business day. OK. But then they disconnect me. I even tried to go on their web site. It doesn't open up either.
I'm taking this back to the store where I bought it.
I still sure did like it the first day though. Does anyone know how to get this thing to release?

Customer Review: Cool Tool
Summary: 5 Stars

The jaw hose is exactly as advertized. I is awesome if you're alone and you need an "extra" hand. I dismantled my two saw horses as now I only need one!

Customer Review: Does just what they say!
Summary: 5 Stars

Removed it from the box. And with no preplanning used it 3 times that first day. I needed to drill a hole in a slippery round flower pot. I've tried this before but there was no way to hold it steady. The jaw horse worked like a dream. I can't believe there is actually a product that "does" what they show on tv. It is quality built and does seem like it will last a long time. The jawhorse weighs 45 lbs. is very stable and your gonna love it.

Customer Review: Does the job, well built for the price point
Summary: 5 Stars

I was impressed straight up with how sturdy this is. I'm a self employed welder, machinist, and fabricator with over 30 years experience. I've also been involved in product design and development, I understand the trade-offs inherent in the decisions that must be made for each and every component, to hit the target price point.

Fortunately, I read some reviews before buying, and so was aware of the issue of making sure the front switch is in lock mode before trying to clamp. And I still forgot to do so one time, but caught myself before doing significant damage. Note to self: RTFM and pay attention!

Not sure if this can be done, but my only suggestion to Rockwell would be to try and come up with a way for this slide switch to default to lock mode. I'd like to see it stay in unlock mode when so moved, until the jaws are unclamped, then snap back to lock mode. Too busy to get into it right now and see if that can be done, but will eventually. Maybe a retrofit hack... (sure to void the warranty tho...)

I'd say this is probably the best Christmas present I've ever given myself.
