Great product, easy installation and great price. I plan to purchase a second system for another closet having had so much success with the first.
Customer Review: Rubbermaid Rocks VS Elfa Summary: 5 Stars
I have purchased 4 of these Rubbermaid Configurations Titanium units over 2 years. I first did extensive research for closet storage systems. I found Elfa which is very well made, however I installed these in my rental apartment and felt no need to spend the price for Elfa units. I found Rubbermaid quality to be great I have had no problems at all with my configurations units. I am quite handy so I did not even need my boyfriends help installing them, which I did in a hour or so.
The first 2 I purchased for myself living in NY with a tiny little closet I measured the longest wall in my bedroom and made a 14 foot closet out of 2 6-8 feet units. Then enclosed it with a hanging wire curtain I found elsewhere.
The most recent purchase I made was to be installed in my mothers apt., she was so jealous of how neat my closet looked I surprised her for mothers day while my brother took her out for dinner I quickly installed the units.
I am so pleased.
Either spend the extra money for Elfa or save the money and headache of looking for all those pieces individually and go with Rubbermaid.
Great quality great price.
Customer Review: Rubbermaid Shelving Summary: 5 Stars
I recently purchased and installed 3 of these units in closets. I have purchased and installed similar products in the past and find the rubbermaid configurations brand very easy to install and adjust. The instructions are easy enough to follow and you don't need a large assortment of tools, just stuff the average homeowner should have on hand. You can easily customize these units by adding additional shleving or other optional speciality items to them which are available at most home improvement stores. These are a very good value.
Customer Review: Single Woman First Home Improvement Project Summary: 4 Stars
I just spent the past 2 days putting up just the top rod. My problem was the screws wouldn't go into my studs, so I ended up using the drywall anchors. I would suggest if you have never done any thing with drilling or screwing read the directions all the way through 2 twice. I luckily had a drill and just needed to purchase a bit to use the dry wall anchors, but it was alot of going back and forth to Home Depot.
Haveing said that it wasn't that hard to put up as long as you have the right tools. I did it by myself, but would advise having someone help if you haven't done any home improvement before.
Customer Review: So easy a helpless female could do it. Summary: 4 Stars
So, I'm not the handiest or most self-sufficient woman and, after three months of using crappy plastic garment racks in my rod- and shelf-less walk-in closet, I ordered this kit and decided to hire someone to install it. But when local handymen started quoting me upwards of $200, I threw up my hands and decided to wing it.
Armed with my pink tool kit, my friend's drill and a fully charged iPod, I dedicated a Saturday to installing it. And it didn't even take the whole day. All told, I'd say it took about three hours.
The only complaints I have are about the instruction manual -- first of all, it says to install the support beams 86.5" off the ground. I did mine at 70" and it was perfect; in fact, the specified height would have been much too high. The manual really should say the minimum height, not specify it at the 86.5". Also, there are a few photo examples in the manual that are at too low of a resolution to tell what is being portrayed, which can create a little confusion.
All in all, though, this is an impressively designed closet kit for a very reasonable price. Recommended.
