Customer Review: Finally Organized!

Used it to replace a sagging single rod and shelf. Installation was easy. The thing that took the longest was just deciding which configuration would work best for my closet because of the sloping roofline common in Cape-style homes. Fortunately, it was easy to experiment with the configuration after installation and was able to come up with a configuration that worked well. Now my closet is very clean and organized, and there is plenty of space when before it was cramped and hard to find things. Works so well and was so easy, have already done a second closet with plans for at least one more. Now my problem is finding stuff to store!
Three minor quibbles:
1. The plastic endcaps for the rods don't seat very well and pop off easily if you don't really, really jam them on. Haven't had any problems with them coming off afterward, but will remedy with a small set screw if any problems do develop.
2. The plastic retainers in the closet rod brackets do develop a little bit of a memory. If you had a larger rod diameter in the bracket for a day or so and then try to switch to the smaller rod, the retainer is a little too stretched out to hold well. If you do need to move the rods, move the brackets they were in along with them.
3. Would like more individual parts to be available (single closet rods for example). Try the closet section in your home center or hardware store - they may have some or the parts.
Those minor issues aside, this is a very affordable and easy-to-use closet organization solution.

Alright over the past several years I have paid various closet companies to put professional organizers in a few of our homes. In the past I probably have spent in total approx. $15,000 with these companies. Recently I wanted a walk in closet in our new house done but I knew that this summer we were going to remodel and knock this closet completely out to expand for a master retreat. Not wanting to spend $3000 or more on a professional closet only to see it torn down and thrown away in a few months I decided hey this is a cheap system it will do for a few months and it even looks easy to install. To my shock it came and it was awesome. It took (3) 3-6 ft systems and (1) 4-8ft system to do this closet. I also ordered, belt racks, canvas bins and wire drawers. Less then $600 to totally pimp out a huge walkin closet yippy!!! Good bye closet companies hello idiot proof installation and versatility for cheap. I love ya Rubbermaid! Excellent closet kit. We ordered two 4-8' deluxe custom kits. My husband and I each have an 8' closet. Kits were very easy to install. By the time we got to the second closet we were pretty fast. Took about 1 hour to install the second closet system. The closet design is great in that there is no cutting with the exception of the last rail cover. Love that the hangers slide easily, our previous closet "system" only allowed a couple of inches either way. The flexibility of the closet is amazing. We also ordered for my husband the shoe shelves, tie and belt organizer, and two sliding pants racks. For me I ordered three sets of shoe rods, two pants racks, and one sliding basket. We also ordered 3 upright extension rods for each closet due to the number of accessories we ordered. I had so much fun playing around with the expandable hanging rods, the shelves, and all the accessories. I now have my closet organized and I cannot believe how much room I have for everything. I purchased two 4-8 ft deluxe custom closet kits for a large walk-in closet, that had an existing 1-pole, shelf setup. I had to remove all the clothing, remove the existing fixtures, paint (it was a dreary beige with lots of scuffs) and then install. Once the prep part was finished, the actual install took about 4 hours (for both kits) working by myself. I also had some issues with the included drywall anchors, I had some others that I decided to use for the second set.
I have done the storage pride from home depot (with a helper), this was faster and easy to do solo, everything is lightweight. Just take your time on the initial rail installation, if that is correct the rest goes very fast.
I added two Elfa floor standing drawer units as well.
I was able to find extra parts at Orchard Supply (OSH).

In only an hour, I had all of it hung and clothes back in. It's been great to have!!!!!!!
With only having a 6ft. closet I wasn't sure what to do with the rest of the pieces but they worked great in a small front hall closet. I am so pleased at how it all turned out and that I got more for my money by getting 2 closets done instead of one.
