Tools and Hardware Reviews of Rubbermaid 3H89 Configurations 4-to-8-Foot Deluxe Custom Closet Kit, TitaniumCustomer Review: Easy to use, does what is says. Summary: 5 Stars
No issues with this product. Was able to put it up in about 30 minutes. Once the top rail is secured the rest is a breeze. I looked into piecing together a similar configuration with the stock items at Home Depot and Lowe's but this was by far cheaper.
Hope this helps
Customer Review: Easy, Solid, Flexible - exactly what I wanted Summary: 5 Stars
I recently bought and installed the deluxe custom closet kit. It was easy to install, which was a really nice surprise. The rails that attach to the wall (from which everything hangs) are VERY sturdy. By using a rail system, the stress on the screws attaching the rail to the wall is distributed, making it very unlikely that (over)loading any part of the attachments will pull the screw from the wall (a problem I had with a cheaper closet system). You can also hang attachments anywhere on the rail - no measuring or re-drilling holes!
It took me an hour to get everything set up, except that I also spent at least a half hour figuring out which of their suggested configurations to use. Very good documentation.
In fact, I liked the Rubbermaid product so much that I also bought the similar system for garages - the FastTrack Supreme Garage Organization Kit.
Both systems, although more expensive than I'd like, are worth the money. Simple, very strong, and configurable. Add-on parts for both are easy to find at Home Depot, Lowes, and Menard's. Highly recommended.
Customer Review: Excellent Closet System - Titanium Looks Chic Summary: 5 Stars
We recently ordered 3 of these deluxe closet system sets for our new home. Easy to put together - very customizable - keeps everything neatly organized. We anchored ours highest towards the ceiling, so there was plenty of room below for shoes and purses. Had extra pieces left over to put shelves in our other hall closets and even above the laundry area. The only down-side is the package is very heavy - about 60lbs. So UPS refused to leave it the door while we were at work and we had to go to the facility to pick it up. Need a hand truck to wheel to car and need maybe two people to lift it up. Otherwise, Excellent product!
Customer Review: Excellent organizer Summary: 5 Stars
It does require a couple of tools and some know-how to install it and be sure it's sturdy. But it is relatively easy to do, looks great and works fabulously.
Customer Review: Excellent product for the price! Summary: 5 Stars
I have hated my closet for about 4 years now but didn't want to spend thousands of dollars on a custom closet. It's the long reach in kind with minimal space. I purchased the Rubbermaid Deluxe Closet Kit just a couple of weeks ago and now I love my closet and have more space than I thought was possible. This is a great product for the price and pretty easy to install if you have all the right tools. It really maximizes all your space and looks great in the titanium. I have a few tips for those of you who have yet to buy and install it.
- Paint the inside of your closet first. I painted a dark brown color and it makes the closet look bigger and much nicer.
- Be careful how far apart you place the vertical wall attachments. It says over 22" for the shelves but then my small hanger bar was too short and I had to drill new holes. Just measure the distance to be slightly less than the shortest bar.
- Buy metal wall supports and toss the weak plastic ones that come with it. If you install into drywall without studs you will need them.
- Use a leveler!
- Unless you are super handy, it's easiest to install this with two people if you want everything leveled properly.
- For the ladies, I was able to place all of my boots across the top rack and now they are all in easy view and off the floor.
- The install was probably the easiest part of this project. The most time consuming was cleaning out my closet, removing the old supports and painting. Be prepared to spend some time but it is all VERY worth it in the end!
