This step stool functions very well - it is sturdy & stable. Though I cannot comment on linoleum, it does well on hardwood floors, as well as tile - without slipping. It does take up much more space when open, than I anticipated. There is not much to hold onto, & I believe there is too much space between body placement on the last step & a counter, for it to be safe for small children.Customer Review: Sturdy

This thing is stable and sturdy. I find that I feel quite safe standing on it to get to the space above the cabinets or to change a light bulb. My mom has one also, and I notice that since her kitchen floor is a little more slippery being porcelain tile, I would recommend placing the step stool on a rug such as what you would use in the bathroom with the gripper backing. On average floors, it is fine by itself.
I don't feel this is a good step stool for kids if you are trying to find something to help them reach the sink or something as it does pull them a ways away from the counter.
One use that we found for this item that is odd. My fiance had a broken ankle and needed to keep it elevated. We don't have an ottoman or footstool. So he had some pillows placed on the coffee table. This step stool with a small throw pillow on it supported his knee so it didn't hyper extend or ache. It bridged the gap between the couch and coffee table. Sort of an unusual use, but it worked extremely well.
This is the sturdiest and most useful step stool I've had. I highly recommend it.

This stepstool is PERFECT.
First of all, since it's plastic, it is very light and easy to carry. Plus it's very, very sturdy and stable, no way to fall off of it. It folds up very nicely and can fit in a closet or under a bed no problem.
I would say this stepstool is ten times better than one of the metal ones because it is so much sturdier and also very light at the same time.
I have very high cabinets and shelves since my apartment is "loft-style" and this is really perfect. If you're going to get a stepstool, this is the one.

Ok.....this may sound strange but, I have been looking for a stool that I can use in the shower when I shave my legs....ladies this works great!
Doesn't take up too much room, cleans up great and is the perfect height.
