finally a closet system you control!!
sorry closet maid, your concept is outdated. while closet maid is a quality product, its configuration is permanent. with this you can change your storage as your needs change. you have to decide what your needs are and how the system will work for you. it took some time to see how i wanted to store my clothes. i decided to make one closest all shelving and the other a double hang with a shelf way up on top. you can get as creative as you want, simple to install the shelves and rods. i do reccomend to buy extra shelving and hang rails especially if you have wide or high closets. you can always save them for the future. the install of the hang rails im sure would have been easy if i didn't live an apartment complex and my closet walls weren't made of concrete. i had my contractor properly install the rails which are permanent.i reccomend getting extra rails and run them top to bottom. you configure to your closet size by positioning them to maximize the length of the rods and shelves. since i live in a co-op, when i sell this it will be a great feature to point out that they can change it to suit their needs.
points i must say:
go to their site and watch the closet videos @ rubbermaid.com (buy the shelving system and accessories at amazon-the prices are literally half and free shipping!)
decide what is most importaint-hanging or folded. start there.
think about the configuration before you start-don't start w/o a plan-it'll make u crazy.
do the math- its worth it to measure it out before ordering the extra shelving and rails. order everything together.
invest in good hangers-those 10 for a buck plastic ones take up valuable space. you dont have to buy the joy mangano huggable hangers, they sell other brands like this too-i sware by this type-- it makes a big difference!
clean out the closet first-get rid of old stuff (donate to charity).

Wish more reviews like B's had such good installation description. I guess we should have known the location of studs in the closet before thinking of purchasing this unit. This turned out to be so wobbly and unstable we couldn't use it-the screws came out of the wall, the anchors very difficult to install, also came back out of the wall. I bought 2 systems for my 2 kids' closets. Very easy to install. Only took us (2 persons) about 3 hours to install them both. Look great! I am thinking about buying a 4-8 feet system for our master bed.
