I've recently started collecting coins, and though a loupe would be a neat little gadget to have on hand. I initially was looking at one of the nicer $15-range loupes, but then opted for this set instead. For a casual hobbyist, I can't complain. The magnification is good, though there is a bit of distortion if you don't focus exactly correct. The 30x is indeed mis-marked, and the edges are a bit rough, as others have mentioned. I bought these knowing these issues, and still can't complain. Though they may not be professional quality, for this price it is a wonderful set to have around. It's neat looking at random objects up close and seeing unexpected details in the small-scale.Customer Review: Good Optical Quality - Great Deal

I just wanted to get my vote in for the fine optical quality - NO chromatic aberration, made more enjoyable by the great price.
Many have already commented on the 30x being something other than 30x. This is most certainly true. I asked at least six people to judge the relative magnifying power of 10x and 30x loupes. They ALL judged the 10x to magnify MORE than the 30x. This was after I looked up exactly how one should use a loupe, and all the testers were also instructed.
So, who knows what the magnification levels really are?
Regardless, they do a good job. So good, in fact, that I bought six sets of these for stocking-stuffers.

As others have noted, these are not professional quality loupes, but for the amateur (like me), they do fine in getting a closer look at small items over what a standard magnifying glass can provide. I use mine mostly for fountain pen nibs and to replace watch batteries, if that helps. I'm not sure the dual loupe is as much use as the other two, but at the price point, it's almost as if it was thrown in for free. Overall, if you're not a professional jeweler, this should do the job at a nice price.
