This thing shows up all the time on sale for $5 on various places. I've been needing a compass to set a TV antennae I erected. Also, I have a nasty habit of getting turned around sometimes. I was kidded and called wrongway more than once growing up, and at 52 I still do it, so it nice to put in my pack when I make my bike rides and go exploring. Don't expect true "military" or "trailblazer" quality out of this thing, but it is just fine for the price. It would be great for anyone, even a boy scout. Seems I remember someone complaining about the needle moving slow in another review, lol, duh, it liquid filled to slow it down dummy, if you ever tried to use a non liquid filled compass you'd be making the opposite complaint, trust me. The little belt clip that comes with it is functional, but ugly, so if your trying to make a fashion statement in the woods, well I won't go there. What I'm thinking probably won't get past the Amazon censors anyway.

If you need or want a cheap and functional compass, do like I did, stick it in your wish list and wait til you need a $5 filler for free shipping.
