Every winter my 91-year old Mother spends a month with me, and it is very difficult to keep her cozy in my home. By the time she feels warm enough, I am wilting, and the bill for my central heating goes through the roof. Last winter I purchased the SPT tower heater in the hope that it would heat the room she was currently in. I have high ceilings and a lot of windows but, as I moved the heater from room to room with Mom, it succeeded in rapidly raising the temperature to her comfort level. The unit is quiet, it seems to evenly spread its heat throughout the room, and the remote control turned out to be quite handy. I wasn't sure whether the portable heater would raise or lower my utility bill, but I was definitely pleased to be able to keep Mom perfectly comfortable. I was so pleased that after Mom left I turned down the central heat and continued to use the portable heater at my own comfort level, moving it from bedroom to office. My utility bills are 5-month-averaged, and I'm happy to report that this heater contributed greatly to reducing my 5-month-average by $30 per month! I have just ordered an additional one for added convenience. The heater is a very lightweight plastic, and I was concerned that it would be flimsy, but we didn't experience any problems at all.Customer Review: DO NOT BUY

Great... when it works.
So far I have had mine replaced TWICE. Both times it has died from the same problem. It will be running, then the LCD will just go blue, beep a few times and stop.
I can not trust the unit to be on by itself anymore, and I will not buy another SPT product because of their poor service.

A got this from amazon 3-4 weeks ago and the price already dropped about 10 dollars on it since then, maybe i should have waited? I've had zero problems with the heater, it heats a room rather quickly. The only real issues i have are the low and high settings don't seem much different-same speeds basically- and it'd just be nice to have the fan only button on the remote because from a distance you can't tell immediatley whether you've switched on the heater or fan with the mode button. Nice heater, heat up a space (medium) pretty quick. Sleek design.
But i think it's a bit overpriced for this normal use heater, no other extraordinary features or whatsoever.
Overall, i am pretty satisfied with 1 month of usage.

The heater warms up the room quickly uniformly. But I was looking for heater with timer so that I can program it to start automatically an hour before my alarm goes off. This unit lacks this feature.
Also, it is quite but sometimes it makes a lot of noise when started but noise gradually reduces to acceptable level.
I am going to return it tomorrow mostly because of timer thing.
