This is a great filter for removing contaminants from your water. I read the previous review about hard water. The filter is not designed really for hard water softening...it removes chlorine, etc from water. I do use less shampoo and soap and cleaning the shower is easier. We were a little surprised with an added bonus....our use of moisturizer is about half. I really am happy with this especially for the price. changing the filter is easy.Customer Review: great price, great filter

I started out a bit of a skeptic, but decided to give this shower filter a try. I am very glad I did! Also, the shower head is great and has excellent pressure. My sensitive skin has been a problem for me (itchy back/winter dryness) but now, I'm thinking most of the problem has been the chlorine and other chemicals in my water. I've also noticed an improvement in my hair, and my shower doesn't get all those icky rusty looking stains anymore. I had wanted a water filter and shower wand for my tub for bathing my show dog. I had discovered that the hard water and chlorine were destroying his coat and making him scratch constantly (this after untold special diets, allergy testing, expensive dog hair care products......). I was anxious to solve the problem quickly and see my little dog rest easy.
The Aquasana filter delivered the water as promised. My dog not only stopped scratching, but won another point towards his championship with soft and shiny hair.
Unfortunately, the piece that holds the wand came damaged. The threaded coupling that attaches the wand holder to the filter was flattened on one side and was unusable. There was no way to know this until the entire package had been opened and unwrapped. I've never had something come broken from amazon and read all the steps for returns. There were no guarantees of full refund because it had been unwrapped. Then there was the time delay. There was no way to get another filter before the dog show in two days. The vinegar rinse I had been using to counteract the hard water would not be acceptable for the show. So my husband set up the filter so that the wand comes directly from the filter and there is no holder. We just set the wand over the unit.
We got another filter (no wand, just filter) for our shower. Our skin is softer and our hair shinier. I am hoping that after the next lime away scrub that cleaning the shower will be easier. Fingers crossed.
