I doubted the benefits of this purchase at first, but after the first day, I realized it does make a difference. I connected the Control Outlet to my TV and as soon as I turned it off, my AV system, speakers and gaming consoles(all plugged as Automatically Switched Outlets) turned off, reducing the so called vamp or invisible energy consumption. It's design allows to connect clunky plugs without obstructing other outlets. The presence of Constant Hot Outlets is great for such things as your DVR or Router.Customer Review: Great product. This product works as advertized. Installs just like any other powerstrip and when the device plugged into the blue outlet turns on/off, all the devices plugged into the white outlets also turn on/off. I bought one of these for my husband for Christmas and liked it so well we bought two more for other areas of the house and even gave one away as a gift. It works very well and is easy for even the least technically inclined to set up. I can recommend this product.
I had some problems initially getting this work correctly on the default settings - some slave devices (Xbox360, Wii) would not start properly - they started, switched themselves off, started again, switched themselves off again etc. 4 - 5 times - but after adjusting the "sensitivity" to the maximum (could probably be lower) those problems have disappeared and I am very happy with the product.
Even if I am not certain as to how much power I am actually saving with this surge protector, I like the idea of not wasting any electricity. And for me, the price was also low enough that I don't feel like I have to crunch numbers to see if the purchase was worth it.
