I have had this power strip for a year. It works as advertised for me--none of the problems experienced by other reviewers. It reliably shuts down all power to selected items plugged into it when the main item is turned off. In my case, it shuts down my speakers, external hard drives, printer, etc when my computer is off, but leaves on my DSL modem and wireless router for my wife to use. It works for me as advertised--I shut down my PC and all of my external peripherals (monitor, hard drives) power down.Customer Review: Great idea but not necessarily convenient

I bought this product after reading a review in a magazine and was drawn to it for the "green" and money-saving claims. I thought it could be an upgrade to my very, very old surge protector (from the late-80s!) for my "home theater" system (just a TV, DVD player and cable box).
The instructions say that the TV should be plugged into the "control" socket so that "everything" turns off when the TV is off, assuming that you're using all the products together. However, my reality is that the the cable box took too long to boot up after the power was completely turned off, and my DVD player is part of a sound bar that I also use for my iPod and radio.
So in the end, I'm using this surge protector much like any ordinary one because my products need to be treated independently. Hopefully, I'm still saving some money since this product has more advanced technology than my old surge protector, but I'm definitely not helping the environment as much I as had hoped with being able to turn the power off to multiple electronics as needed.

This product works GREAT for me. Exactly what I needed. Very easy to set up and adjust. I am using it to power up my subwoofer and wireless transmitter when I turn on my amp. If you set it up correctly, it will work for you too!Customer Review: Great product

I felt compelled to write in response to the other negative review. We have two smart strips for our tv/dvd/stereo. Ours work fantastic. It's awesome and we loved it!. This is an easy no brainer way for everyone to save a significant amount of dead energy with no extra work!! Seriously.
