: 1.) You MUST keep water in the bowl; 2.) DO NOT COVER THE METAL DISC WITH WATER since the grooved surface needs to be dry. Perhaps this reviewer did not follow the instructions. I have had one for 2 years and have bought several for friends and relatives who have complimented me on the freshness of my home.
