Customer Review: A cheaper alternative to a sharpmaker

While this sharpening system doesn't have as many optional angles as the Spyderco sharpmaker it is extremely compact(7.75inx1.375inx.75in) and can put a nice working edge on your blade in a few passes on the carbide notches(4-6).I certainly appreciate this product since it was the only way I could get my Ka-bar to a very nice near razor edge.However the ceramic rods from my experience tend to dull the edge a bit after using them but does make the edge cut smoother.If the carbides are not set at a desirable angle for you,you can do it the old fashioned way with the 4" diamond stone which can be used slightly wet or dry.Overall a nice system to have on you whether it be inside or hanging on a backpack with some 550 cord through the lanyard hole hiking/camping or around the house when a knife needs a quick sharpening.
