Tools and Hardware Reviews of Smith & Wesson SWHRT9B Black HRT Boot Knife

Customer Review: Boot Knife
Summary: 4 Stars

The overall appearance of the knife is fantastic and feels very balanced when you hold it. It has some potential to be thrown well. The blade did not come razor sharp, but came pretty sharp. The point of the knife is very fine and is very good. The hilt blocks the hand very well and the knife itself feels good in the hand and the blade appears well centered. The sheath attaches to my boot rather well and does not irritate my leg at all. The clip is easy to undo and refasten when need be. Overall, it's a very well constructed knife!

Customer Review: Boot knife
Summary: 5 Stars

I am very satisfied with this purchase. The knife is really very solid and sharp. The quality seems very high. Genuine Leather sheath, well balanced and good quality, makes my outdoor activity more comfortable.
If you like to go hunting or fishing, this knife will be useful.

Customer Review: Decent boot knife for the price
Summary: 4 Stars

You aren't paying a good $100 for this knife, and you can feel the sacrifice in quality. However, if you're hitchiking or trainhopping or just generally being in parts of town where your chance of getting mugged is increased- this piece will come to your aid just fine.
Knife arrives sharp, too. Not exactly razor sharp, but if you need razor sharp, buy a razor.

Customer Review: Decent knife - but as sharp as a spoon
Summary: 2 Stars

I like the knife, except for it was shipped dull, and i mean it couldnt cut paper (its pointy, but thats all).

seems like good steel due to being hard to sharpen but it also has a strange angle on the blade. I dont know if anyone else has had this issue though.

I like the blade length, the black finish is nice too. decent sheath.

overall its ok, but like i said, the knife was really dull when i received it.

Customer Review: Don't worry, this is very much worth it. (EJW)

Hello all. You can calm your fears of recieving a less than par quality product with this item. I did not buy my boot knife from this site, but it is the exact same item, so in other words, potato, pototto. Well then, getting back on the subject of the knife, this is one of the finer quality knives that I have had so far. You can use the clip to attach it to your waist or your boot, hence the name boot knife. I modified my sheath a little in order to strap it around my ankle. The knife is coated with a black layer of paint, which prevents rust. This is not a two piece (blade and handle) knife. The blade and handle are one, and are made of metal, which greatly increases the durability of the item, and lessens the chance of it breaking into two pieces. The handle is very smooth, but easy to grip, and is very comfortable. To my surprise, I found this knife to be somewhat balanced. This brought to mind the question of whether or not it was throwable. I can assure you, it is very throwable. I have never thrown knives before, but after about an hour of practice, I was landing hits into boards five feet away. I am not guaranteeing that the purchaser of this product will be able to sucessfully throw this knife on his/her first attempt, but throwing is a definite possiblity with this product. Don't worry, it is very durable, for I have missed my target quite a few times, in which case the knife would strike the concrete floor. To my amazement and relief, the knife was still in one piece. (A word to the beginning thrower- do not throw as hard as you can. A light throw does just fine with this model at 3 feet. In my case, I land more hits by holding the knife by the blade when I throw it- oh, and practice first by throwing the knife into the ground)
A quick note to the buyer- please be safe with knives of any kind. This is a very nice knife, but it is not one to be carried around everywhere, for this knife's shape and make/model limit it to be classified as a weapon more than anything else, unlike a pocket knife, which can in most cases be classified as a tool.
Don't forget to enjoy yourselves, though.

Cheers
