I put this in my garage in Washington State, where the water table in winter is so high the concrete floor actually leaks UP. The humidifier works 24/7, quietly and efficiently. My only beef is that it is in no ways 40-pints. The capacity of the tank is more like 12 pints. Maybe they mean "rate" of dehumidifying, not tank capacity. It fills up every 2-3 days and is pretty easy to empty. I haven't investigated a permanent hose to the outside, yet. I'd buy it again and recommend it highly.Customer Review: A wonderful choice

This is a fantastic dehumidifier. I've been running it almost 24/7/365 for 2 years now. I run it in my basement during the summer and in our condensation-prone entryway in winter. It is effective and very quiet.Customer Review: About to order my 4th!

I live very close to the ocean and have a hard time with mold. I have 3 Soleus dehumidifiers...one the 40 pt and 2 25's, and they all work incredibly well. Musty smell gone, mold very minimal in closets/areas that would otherwise be horrible. The oldest dehumidifier has been in constant operation since 2005...thought it had broken (motor running but no water) but just cleaned the filter and it is working like a champ! Didn't think of dehumidification when we renovated our house, so I have to empty the water collection container every 24-48 hours...the only drawback. I also didn't realize that the difference between the 40 and the 25 was in extraction, not the size of the container for the water, so I didn't really need the 40 pt (was hoping to empty a little less frequently.) I have another closet I think could use the 4th. Heloise hint: the containers will start to grow something after a bit...a little bleach rinse periodically will keep them fresh and clean. I haven't tried others...read multiple sites and reviews before buying the first...but I'm very happy with these.Customer Review: After two weeks, so far so good

At standard delivery from Ace Digital, Soleus CFM-40 arrived in several days in perfect condition, well packaged. Loud enough so you don't want to sleep in the same room with it, even in quiet mode. I pour out several quarts of water each day from a 780 sq ft Northern California house. It's a good looking unit, easy to handle, and out of the way.
