As reviewers have stated, this is ultra bright on the high setting. It's like looking into the sun, but provides nice lighting. While I'm sitting at night, I simply prop up a book on it's side to block out the intense light. The warmth is amazing even on low setting. I have two year-old cats and they adore it. They sleep in front of it in their bedding. It's quiet operation. The oscillation is impressive the span it covers. It's so cold here in WI, I do need to operate my base board heating as well from time to time.
I also ordered the Optimus Infrared heater, which is not bright...it's like a soothing fire place lighting...but it does not oscilate.
I haven't done much research yet, but will the bulb need replacement?

I like this heater a lot. I would give it five stars, but I don't know where to get more bulbs for it, and taking the thing off to change the bulb doesn't seem intuitive. The bulbs do last a good long while, though, but not years and years (if you use it a lot, like I do). Anyway, maybe I'll do some research and find out about those bulbs instead of buying a new heater when my second heater's bulb runs out. I thought the quality of my first heater was a little better, and it was warmer on the low setting than my second one. The high setting is just as good, however (that's the most important setting for me).
It's a great unobtrusive heater, unless the light bothers your eyes (not the best heater for sleeping, unless you have one of those eye masks). It doesn't pump out gas. It's energy-efficient.

I really love this heater. It is energy efficient and effective. Of course it is warmest when used as a spot heater, but overall, it makes my large bedroom much more comfortable. It does glow, so that may bother you if you are trying to sleep with it on, but I find the glow (kind of like a glow from a fireplace) comforting. If you are looking for a space heater to heat up your room, this is not your product. This is not a "room heater" it is a "space heater." It will sufficiently heat up a SPACE in your room. I use it under my desk (only when I am sitting at my desk, of course) and I only need to use the 400Watt setting. It gets too hot even, sometimes. A great energy saver compared to those 1500Watt systems that don't even heat as well. I don't use a house heater and live in the cold city of San Francisco. This is the best heater hands down. It is EASY to use, does what is says it will do and is Energy Efficient. It gets very hot on low and the range of motion with the low swing oscillation is great. It is QUIET!!!! And the best part is no blowing air. And it adds a nice glow to a room. When I set the timer, the heat remains for a long time after it shuts off. I researched, purchased,returned and used almost every type of heater from the vornado to a holmes...This one is the best..it is a keeper.
