Very nice heater. Like the ability to raise and lower, and left to right feature, plus option to use 400 watt or 800 watt feature. It's great to use while working at the computer. My husband likes to use it, too. Great for doing a "far infrared mini sauna" treatment. (I have Lyme disease, and use it for detox, too.) The only shortcoming I find with the machine is the mounting of the heater head is a bit clunky. It's a bit difficult to tilt the dish up and down. But otherwise, it's a great little heater, and works wonderfully, especially if you use it while sitting on a chair.Customer Review: Soleus heat is great

It may be bright, but at its lowest setting it surely puts out a lot of heat, saving on heating bills! It only consumes 400 watts on its 'low' setting (800 watts on 'high')and if you're mostly in one room, why heat your whole house when you don't need to? This also encourages family togetherness since it ocillates. I have this pedestal one as well as the floor/table model for use on the living room floor. I just ordered a second pedestal type for another bedroom. The ocillation feature as well as the remote control are pluses and my cats love it as well! Can't go wrong by using this fine heater. I live in an old house with 10' ceilings through out, poor insulation, and drafty single pane windows. Wife and I have this set up oscillating in front, in between, and facing us on recliners. This is as we watch TV. It is bright! Too bright on high to watch TV with this thing staring at your face. It is manageable on the low setting and keeps us warm. Am able to turn the thermostat down to 56, in the Indiana winter.
Overall I am pleased with this. It is "cool to the touch" when in use, doesn't get hot. I really like the use of the remote. Just remember It must be facing you for effect. On a side note mine runs around 450W on low and right at 800W on high. No biggie, I think it's supposed to be 400W at low. Mine also hums a little as it oscillates.

I bought this heater in November 2007 I used it all last winter and was using it in my livingroom recently and sitting with my back to it on my computer and I smelled an odor like something was burning it was that Soleous heater it was smoking and almost caught on fire but blew the electric breaker(thank goodness) it could have caught my apartment on fire! I will never buy a radiant heater again!!!
