Customer Review: As expected, but with one caveat

We got this headboard to add to our southshore platform bed. The headboard itself looks good, the quality is as expected (not superb but still a great value for the price). Here is the one thing to consider if you are going to buy this: once assembled they somehow expect you to attach the top-heavy headboard to your bed with 4 screws. Yep, 4 screws. Not bolts, just 4 standard wood screws that screw into the already-pretty-cheap wood of the bed. Obviously I had to assemble this away from the wall, so the minute I tried to move the bed back into place all the screws started to pull out and the headboard nearly fell over. I took the cue from another reviewer and got some L-brackets to add stability. Once those were in place I re-screwed the original 4 into new holes, and added a few extra screws of my own. Feels pretty sturdy now, although I still plan on having it against the wall to be safe (besides, the entire back of the headboard is unpainted which looks crappy from behind). This is a good looking headboard and it's really inexpensive. Just be prepared to add some homemade stabilization and you won't be disappointed!

With its geometric lines and Solid Black finish, this headboard has a timeless look and blends easily in any decor. The contemporary lines are soften by the curved cutout. It fits a 54 or 60 inch bed and hardware to attach to South Shore's platform bed is included. It is made of recycled CARB compliant particle pannels. This headboard has to be assembled by two adults. Measures 64 inches wide by 3 inches deep by 46 inches high. It is delivered in one box measuring 67,5 inches by 25 inches by 2 inches and weights 38 pounds. Tools are not included. 5 year warranty.
