Loved the mask. Make sure you ask for the right size, mine was XL following the size instructions on comments. The lens do not fog up as a previous old WW2 navy mask I had. First of all, DO NOT use for paintball!!! The lens are ballistic grade, but are awfully thin and old; they may crack when repeatedly hit. The rubber is thin and tight, which offers no protection against concusions or bruising. The ears, brows, and nose are particulary vunerable. It is not safe, please don't get hurt...
This is a very interesting genuine Soviet gas mask. It is an intimidating mask that makes a nice addition to any collection. However, I wouldn't trust my life to this mask. This mask and filter are quite old, manufactured in November 1977, plus the exhaust valve doesn't close consistently. The rubber feels practically new despite age, but mine is stained with brownish streaks, it looks dirty, but doesn't clean up. The mask stays in place and is fairly comfortable. However, this seller should offer bigger sizes as this mask was tight on the eyebrows and didn't seal against ears.

Just got the mask a few weeks ago. Great visibility and fits well. There aren't any straps, so it's easy to put on. The only problem is that the seal is around the neck, and the lack of straps means you can't have a skinny neck if you want a seal. But if you bought it for novelty, like me, it's awesome, and the price is great. 11.95 is a great price for the ability to say "I have a Soviet gas mask from WWII", then flick off everybody while you walk away.Customer Review: Don't believe the picture

As a previous reviewer said: the materials that the mask and bag are made of are not what appears in the picture. In the picture the mask appears to be made of some heavy canvas with brass rings around the eye shields, and the bag appears to be made of brown leather or suede. However, this is a gray rubber mask with aluminum rings around the eye shields and the bag is made of drab olive material.
That being said, I still really like this mask. I bought it for a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. costume S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl and it is turning out really well.
From what I have read other places online however, this mask is surplus from the old USSR now being sold in the US after 9/11. It is low quality and isn't reliable for protection if you really need it. The mask comes shipped with a disclaimer saying as such.
That being said this IS a REAL gas mask, it WAS manufactured with the intention to filter out NBC agents. For the price you can't go wrong: it's a hell of a lot better than having nothing in the event of a hazardous condition.
