The directions for this product advise that you have the option of building one complete 5-shelf vertical unit or one 3-shelf unit and one 2-shelf unit (to stand side by side). I tried the former option first but found that the upper half of the unit was not sturdy. The problem is that clips that bind the side rails to the vertical posts just aren't strong enough to support the unit above the third shelf. I ended up rejecting the 5-shelf approach and built two separate units. These two units appear to be of sufficient strength and support standing alone. If you want two 36 inch tall shelving units this product is a good bet - as a single 72 inch tall shelving unit, though, it just doesn't cut it. Customer Review: Cheaper at Walmart

This shelving unit is great. I bought one for my basement closet and liked it so much that I went back and bought a second one, and my parents bought two of them. It is sturdy and very easy to put together, although the first shelf was the hardest. It took less than an hour by myself and all I needed was a rubber mallet. It was a great buy on sale for $32.99, but even the regular price of $39.99 is a good buy.Customer Review: Best shelving available

I love these shelves. I have rows of them in my garage and basement. They are super-sturdy, adjustable, and attractive. It's best if two people work together on assembly, which is not hard once you get the hang of it but a little awkward if you do it alone. These shelves are very sturdy (they hold up to 900lbs.) Assembly is very simple, once you get the hang of it. All you need is a mallet- there are no brackets or small parts to lose. Great value!
