Tools and Hardware Reviews of Sprite Industries HO-WH High Output White Shower Filter

Customer Review: Excellent filter!
Summary: 5 Stars

I have had no issues with this filter, and there is DEFINITELY a noticable decrease or elimination in chlorine smell during my showers. I can take a deep breath without feeling like I have to cough a little. I haven't really noticed a difference with my hair, but possibly my skin is less dry. Installation was easy. I got the white version because I have brushed nickel fixtures and thought the chrome would look funny. Honestly, now that I have it installed, it doesn't matter to me what color it is - no one is really looking at it and it works so dang good that I'm proud of it!

Customer Review: Finally -- relief!!
Summary: 5 Stars

For many years I had been suffering from horrible allergy attacks after getting out of the shower. I never understood why. Finally fed up, I did some research on-line and realized I could actually be allergic to the chlorine! I immediately ordered this filter but didn't have high hopes. Well, I can't hardly believe my luck! I no longer have sneezing attacks after my shower and I don't go through a half a box of Kleenex every night. It's amazing! A simple solution for a weird problem. I would highly recommend this to anyone suffering from the same crazy shower allergies as I was. Give it a shot!

Customer Review: Gets rid of 95 to 99% of the itcheness from chlorine for me
Summary: 4 Stars

I did my research before plunking money on the sprite model. I also tried vitashower vitamin C shower. Vitamin C shower filters and sprite filters, according to another site, were the only shower filters that were able to filter 99% or more chlorine out of the water. Now there may be other pollutants in the water, like chloramines, which may or may not be filtered here, or other toxic chemicals I don't know. So know your water and how it is purified and which filter can do what before choosing a water filter. Not all municipalities treat their water with the same type of chemicals (or even chlorine, some using chloramine, some use ozone, and of course there is well water).
The problem with vitashower is that the vitamin C cartridges did not last as long as advertised.. I was already beginning to itch after a month or two.. and by 3 months it was useless. At about $30 per replacement cartridge filter, this can get pretty expensive in the long run. Not to mention that some shampoos contain benzoates which can combine with vitamin C to produce benzene.
I don't know about how long sprite filters last, but I heard it was good. This will of course depend on your chlorine content and also how much water you use.
The big problem with this particular model of course is that it lowers your shower head by about 5 inches. Not a problem for everybody, but can be a problem for some. There can be also water leakage at certain points of the design (which I did feel today... where the top part of the canister and the bottom part of the cannister screw together). I think in my case it was just loose, but I may put teflon tape in there maybe later if it continues.
Sprite does manufacture shorter filter heads - but they do not necessarily last as long as this model, at least in theory.

Customer Review: Good shower filter.
Summary: 5 Stars

It seemed to keep the yellow deposit from accumulating in my shower walls. This is the second shower filter we purchased. The first one as purchased about a year ago, after we moved into this house, which had the bathroom redone. My shower walls remain almost spotless after one year of use--We barely even needed to do any cleaning for the shower walls, just to rinse the wall once a while after shower.

Very good product.

Customer Review: Has helped my itching for over 4 years
Summary: 5 Stars

In 2002, I began having a problem where I had a mild itchiness over my entire body. To cut a long story short, I finally solved the problem by installing a filter on my shower head. The first filter I used (which I bought at Sears) lasted about six months before becoming clogged. I used those for a few years before trying the Sprite.

I've now been using the Sprite for about four years, replacing the element once per year on average. One thing I like about the Sprite is that it has never become clogged. Instead, I know it needs replacement when my body starts itching again. I replace the filter and the itchiness goes away completely within a few days. You can't argue with results.
