HAVING RECEIVED THE TWELVE PAIRS ORDERED, I CONCLUDE THAT THERE IS A BASIS FOR THE ISSUE REPORTED FOR THIS PRODUCT BY ANOTHER REVIEWER.
I AM THEREFORE RETRACTING MY ORIGINAL POSITIVE, 4-STAR REVIEW (APPENDED BELOW). THIS WILL REMAIN THE CASE AT LEAST UNTIL I HEAR BACK FROM AMAZON AND STANLEY, THE GLOVE MANUFACTURER.

Differences which make clear that design/manufacture of this product have changed include:
= Difference in product color, from the displayed tan cowhide, to a clearly more orange/rust material (see earlier negative review from another buyer);
= change in back stitching, from the displayed douple parallel stitch, to a single-pass zigzag;
= some further apparent changes in the relative internal dimensions of the glove (e.g., relative finger lengths, and length of thumb relative to fingers).
THESE DIFFERENCES SUGGEST (1) THAT THE PRODUCT SHIPPING AS OF LAST WEEK OF DECEMBER 2010 IS NOT THE SAME GLOVE IN TERMS OF MATERIAL AND CONSTRUCTION AS EARLIER LOTS BEING SHIPPED, HAVING UNDERGONE A CHANGE IN DESIGN/MANUFACTURING/QC, (2) THAT THE PRODUCT FOR WHICH I'D PROVIDED MY POSITIVE REVIEW -- WHICH MATCHED THAT ILLUSTRATED HERE, THE TAN, DOUBLE STITCHED -- WAS FROM AMONG THE EARLIER LOTS SHIPPED, AND (3) THAT NEWER LOTS SHIPPING MAY INDEED BE INFERIOR AND GIVE THE ISSUE OF DISCOLORATION INDICATED BY ANOTHER REVIEWER.
I THEREFORE RETRACT MY EARLIER REVIEW, AND REVISE MY 4-STAR RATING TO 1-STAR. I WOULD GIVE 0-STARS FOR THE DECEPTIVE BAIT-AND-SWITCH PRACTICE THAT IS APPARENTLY AT PLAY VIS-A-VIS USE OF THE TAN GLOVE IMAGE, IF THIS WERE POSSIBLE.
ORIGINAL, RETRACTED REVIEW:
Have had two pairs in use for years as simple, lightweight, dry/mildly wet work and driving gloves.
Dexterity of gloved hand for men good, but not extraordinary; glove is not insulated, and so it's not suitable for extended very cold work (e.g., passing time outside in subzero weather, or doing gloved-hand mechanical tool work in the very cold). Also, unless otherwise treated, not intended to be waterproof.
BUT, for **what they are, and designed to do**, can't beat these for price and quality. Have never experienced stained hands. In terms of appearance, quality and workmanship is very high for price range.
So, today, on finding them again at Amazon, am buying a dozen more pairs (literally), for (i) treatment of leather for longterm dry/mild wet survival, and then (ii) gifting as men's driving, work, dress gloves. (Treatment is to ensure longterm integrity of leather, and to avoid staining of glove finger leather over time.)
Unclear what has led to problems of others, except perhaps that they are not dealing with cowhide leather as leather and treating appropriately, and/or perhaps have been fully saturating untreated leather gloves in water.
Conclusion: For price, quality of workmanship at price, and utility for realistic, specified uses with adequate care, 4-5 stars.
