I like the unit though the 5 tier unit is much sturdier and is made of stronger material. However,I was not happy with this purchase as it arrived broken. The packaging is ridiculous. This is a strong, quality 4 shelf storage unit. It fits perfect in our basement garage and allows ample storage between the top shelf and the ceiling. It's rated at 150lbs per shelf and I have no reason to doubt it. For a sturdy frame, the assembly time is a breeze. Free shipping and the best price. Not sure how much more there is to say about this. I read the stellar reviews and -- after buying and quickly assembling two of these units -- I heartily agree. These shelves arrived in perfect condition, assembled easily and quickly with no tools other than my hands, and do a fab job holding a bunch of stuff (including boxes filled with heavy stuff). I'd purchased one of these at my old house and found it very easy to assemble. So when I moved to the coast and knew the high humidity would corrode metal, I ordered 4 of these to hold supplies for the garage. They're very sturdy, wipe clean with a damp cloth, and the price can't be beat for instant storage space. Based on other reviews, I'm sure these shelves when not broken are just fine. However, I ordered three sets of shelves from Amazon and two of the three were broken. I'm not talking about small cracks here or there, I'm talking about large cracks and pieces broken off such that the shelf would be unsafe to use. Considering reviewers have been complaining about this for years, it's a shame that Amazon hasn't corrected this. I also think the problem may have more to do with how Sterilite packages their shelves. They're in a thin cardboard box with no padding and the top and bottom shelves are going to be susceptible to cracking or breaking.
In short, you can buy this product, just do NOT BUY FROM AMAZON. Make sure you can see in the store that this product is not broken before you spend your hard earned dollars.
