Customer Review: DISAPPOINTMENT IN A BOX

We purchased 5 sets of these Sterilite 4-Shelf Units and sent them all back. After easily putting one together, I noticed that one of the corners was cracked. It wasn't a superficial crack that I could just get over seeing either. The structural crack was located where the legs of the upper shelf is suppose to nest on the shelf just underneath, so the sturdiness was now compromised. All I could imagine was leaving the crack alone since the shelf was put together already, loading it up, and coming home to a mess on the garage floor.
So after my husband got on the phone with Amazon to process the return, I opened up all the other boxes and saw they all had the same issue. I found cracks in the corner of each box I opened. Usually Sterilite has pretty good products, but for some reason... major fail with this one. I also noticed that the plastic they used for this product is harder and the type that shatters if you drop it, not to mention the products weren't packed with any sort of padding or shock absorbing material. So maybe I shouldn't place all the blame on Sterilite and some on UPS?
Would have given the product two out of five stars because it was very easy to put together and seemed sturdy; but being annoyed about having to send ALL of them back, cost them one of the two stars. Either way, wouldn't recommend these even to my annoying neighbor who complains about dust getting into her garage on a windy day.

These shelves are great they do the job in the garage or activity in the room in the house. The full price is a bit too much but if you get it at a discount like I did, its great. They also do seem to take quite a bit of weight. a few paint cans are no problem for them. the top most shelf is a little unsturdy for heavy items. These are great shelves to help organize an untidy room. I only use it in my basement to store lightweight stuff so I haven't really need to test their capacity. I was impressed with the easy installation and the price is great too.Customer Review: Easy to assemble

So, I'm really bad at assembling things. I mean, *really* bad. Not only was I able to assemble these shelves on my own, but I was able to do it within three minutes, without instructions.
I am feeling so pleased with myself right now.
The shelves are great. They are reasonably sturdy, the shelves are flat, and I can put things on them, which is exactly how I intended to use them.
We bought some fancy $70 chrome shelves from Lowe's a few months ago, and it took hours to put them together and the shelves ended up lopsided.
These Sterilite shelves are easy to assemble and *not* lopsided. They get five stars.
