This probably the best buy in shelving for a not-very-strong-76-year-old woman who needs a lot of storage. I bought three sets and used a block of wood and a hammer to lock everything firmly together, but some people wouldn't need them. The harderst part was getting them out of the box! The shelves are rigid, and strong enough to hold lots of jars and cans of food. I did wedge some shims under the front legs, but it's unlikely that they would tip easily because they are fairly deep. They're not going to sag, like wooden shelves, and they won't rust either, like steel. They are made of a virtually indestructible plastic material, which was nice for me when assembling them, because the components were not too heavy to handle. The shelves are great and the price is right. That makes it hard to beat.
