my drain was taller than the item allowed. I snipped the top circle and it stretched over the drain top knob. the whole thing works like a champ. it gets most of the hair and i have not had to use any drain cleaners since i installed it.
i would highly recommend it to anyone.

This one works great for showers because it has enough holes everywhere to really let water through so it doesn't fill up around your feet. We had previously tried the other kind which is mainly intended for bathtubs and it did not work nearly as well in a stall shower. Also it is soft rubbery so isn't a problem if you step on it. It is clear and unobtrusive. It is great at stopping hair, the hair winds around the lower part and is very easy to pull off. So far so good, pretty little item. Who would have guessed that such a little 'flimsy-daisy-like' protector would help prevent clogs. Fits nicely over the drain, exactly how it is stated. Instructions, simple. Great product. Four stars because had to wait long time for delivery. Mix up on shippers end, but satisfied, just the same.
