Customer Review: Small and unstable--and arrives dirty!

All the pieces of this shoe organizer were dusty and dirty coming out of the box.
Although the picture of the unit shows shoes sitting neatly side-by-side, unless you have child-sized feet, you'll be stuffing shoes in on their sides. And your workout shoes? Each individual shoe will need its own compartment.
The unit fits together with little connectors that look ingenious but are really really really annoying to use. They're hard to snap together and aren't very stable, so that as you try to snap pieces onto the unit, the parts you've already assembled keep coming apart. It took forever to put it together, and I wouldn't dream of trying to take it apart to put it together in a different configuration.

Before I say anything else I have to point out that the shpping on this product was super fast - I received it the day after I ordered it which was awesome.
Like others have said, the unit is pretty tough to put together (especially using just your hands) but can be done in about 45 minutes. Once put together though, the unit looks good, pretty much exactly like in the picture. However, if you're expecting the sides to be "hard plastic" they aren't, instead they are more like a soft flimsy plastic material.
I was aware of the size of the unit when ordering (that the cubbys were only 6"x6") but it was still smaller than I had envisioned when it was finished. It is really great if you have a small space, but for our purposes we could have used the holes to be a bit bigger.
Most of our shoes fit one pair/cubby but larger shoes (men's shoes) tend to take up one cubby/shoe so keep that in mind if you are looking for a place to store a lot of mens sneakers or dress shoes.
Overall, I am pretty happy with this product. I think I looked at every shoe organizer on amazon and at target & walmart and I still think that this was our best option for the price.

I purchased this product for my daughters room. The size and color is perfect. Putting the item together was extremely frustrating and time consuming. It's one of those awkward--by the time you slide the right side in place the left side pops out--sort of things. After I had successfully restrained myself from throwing the thing out the door, I noticed that I was missing several pieces. I only had enough connectors to complete 11 cubes. And I was missing a couple of the side pieces as well. I did not want to return the product because I had already put my blood, sweat and tears into it, so Amazon said they would just ship me another one and I could take the parts I needed and send it back. I was very pleased with the way Amazon handled this. I like the finished product, but I think building one from scratch would be easier than putting this together.Customer Review: nice cubby

this cubby was much sturdier than I expected that it might be--but it did require the use of a rubber mallet--not a bad thing for me because I had one.
