Tools and Hardware Reviews of Storage Solutions 15-Pair Shoe Cubby, White Frost

Customer Review: Does its job but very difficult to put together.
Summary: 3 Stars

My husband and I purchased this after talking about getting a new shoe rack. We both have fairly decent amount of shoes and we were getting tired of shoes falling left and right off of our current shoe rack. It arrived on time and in fairly good condition. We're just a bit afraid that the panels will start falling apart later because some of them are put together poorly. When the box arrived, I hurried myself to open the box. I read the reviews and already had a brief idea it would be hard to put together. My husband recently started going back to school and I didn't want to bother him so I went ahead and tried to put it together myself. I got the first four cubes together; with scratches and punctures on my hand..My husband helped me put the rest together. It took us about 2 hours to put everything together. We both find it very useful after it's been built but we'll think hard before purchasing another set.
Also, my husband's shoe size is 13 and he has to squeeze in his Converse in order to fit into one cube. He can't fit in his Vans so we use 2 cubes for those. He can put about 2 pairs of flip flops into one cube. My shoe size is 7, 7 1/2. I can fit about 3~4 pairs of flip flops in one cube. I left two top panels open and put my boots up there. I can fit a pair in each cube since there is no top panel. I can fit my heels sort of side by side, one shoe in, then the other in one cube. I can fit my running shoes, one on top of the other in one cube.
Hope that helps!

Customer Review: Does what its supposed to do
Summary: 4 Stars

It's a fine product, but it comes with no written instructions. I know it seems self-explanatory, but really, something would have helped. Also -- the back piece doesn't connect, it's just held in place.

Customer Review: Don't expect a bargain
Summary: 2 Stars

This is definitely a lot smaller than I had anticipated! My 6 year old's shoes are the only ones that fit in each cubbie comfortably so for my husband's we used two sections without an attachment.

The "walls" come out too easily, it's hard to click the pieces into place, and one of the pieces broke within a month of getting it.

Customer Review: Flexible
Summary: 4 Stars

Very flexible configuration. Good size cubby for most shoes. Only negative is getting additional connectors is possible but a bit pricey.

Customer Review: Frustrating and not what they advertise.

After looking around and reading reviews I decided on this shoe cubby for my closet but I've been disappointed in almost every way.

First of all, though I am quite good at putting things together, this cubby took over three and a half frustrating hours to get only 12 of the 15 squares together. The circular joints that hold the sides together were not made to fit the sides at all, so they are hard to push in, don't fit in all the way, and pop out really easily. But I finally got it together and was relieved I could finally put it in my closet when...

it didn't fit! I had carefully measured the space I had for a shoe cubby before ordering one. This unit says each square is 6", so I multiplied that by 4 and thought "great, I have 25" as the width where I need to put this so I can put four across and have an inch to spare" but that 6" square does not take into account the extra quarter inch around each side of each square that is just open space, nor does it take into account the almost half inch the joint hangs out the side. So, I had to turn it over and only do three by three which isn't enough to hold what I wanted it to hold. Each three square side is 20 and 3/4 inches, as opposed to the 18 I expected from their claim that each cubby hole was a six inch square.

I haven't had problems with my shoes not fitting like other people. I actually find the cubbies to be more than large enough- it even fits my big pair of snow shoes (squished down) in one cubby, and I wear a women's size 9. I haven't had any further problems with it since I've been using it and it seems sturdy enough.. I just know that I will eventually have to buy a new shoe cubby since this doesn't fit everything, but I am determined to try to make it work since I don't want to have totally wasted my $30.
