Tools and Hardware Reviews of Streamlight 51015 TT-2L 2-Lithium Xenon/3-LED Twin-Task Flashlight, TitaniumCustomer Review: Awesome, The Best Flashlight Out There Summary: 5 Stars
This Streamlight is brighter than a Surefire, cost less and has a longer battery run time when turned on.I have looked all over the internet for the best price on 3 volt lithium batteries for my Streamlight Twin-Task 2-cell lithium flashlight and Surefire does offer the best deal(surprised) 12 3-volt lithium batteries for $$$ at [online] . The 2nd best deal is [online] for those people who are interested.
Customer Review: Bright, versatile, and cheap Summary: 5 Stars
I haven't used a Surefire, but I'm willing to believe that a $100 flashlight is a lot better than a $35 flashlight. If you need a Surefire and can afford it, great. But if you're not a flashaholic, this Streamlight is a great product. The xenon bulb on mine is incredibly bright, and the LED mode is very useful for most purposes. This is a perfect glovebox light, as the batteries have a long shelf life. The compact size is a bonus, and it'll go in a backpack or purse without weighing you down much. A friend of mine uses it when she walks her dog at night, because of its handiness. And it's cool enough to impress your friends. I've never needed a brighter or better flashlight.
Customer Review: Does a good job and has both LEDs and a decent Xenon lamp Summary: 4 Stars
The housing is solid and nice, the battery cap has a water tight rubber ring on it as well.
The expect to get about 1.2 hours or so just using the xenon lamp. Pretty bright and definitely blinding. It reaches 30-40 feet well.
The LED mode is bright with a slight blue hue, lights up areas within 20 feet nicely even in low light situations, looks even better in complete dark out conditions. It allows about 18 hours of battery life in LED mode.
Takes 2 3volt lithium batteries. It's not thin like a two AA maglite this fits nicely in the hand. Has a tassel and the switching mode goes as is.. xenon - LEDs - xenon-off. Also the beam has a minimum amount of focus but only for the xenon lamp which is centered.
Overall, very satisfied with the purchase.
Customer Review: Great Dual-Use Flashlight Summary: 4 Stars
I think this flashlight is great. Xenon mode is extremely bright and like a spot light. The 3 LEDs are better when you don't need to see as far (to save batteries). I'm surprised somebody said they see little difference in the brightness of the two modes; maybe in a small room but this is no way the case in a large setting or outside. This light is built like a tank and feels great in the hand. One of the strengths of this flashlight is also a weakness--the batteries (type 123). They aren't cheap, and you don't get a whole lot of use out of them, especially in xenon mode, which I tend to use often when outside. The batteries do make the flashlight incredibly light and powerful for its size, however. If you are a backpacker, for example, this is key, and definitely worth it. The light pattern projected could be a little better for both modes, but that's not something that is really worth complaining about for me. Like somebody else said, you shouldn't be comparing this to some $100+ flashlight. Currently, Amazon is selling this for about $46, which I think is getting to be a little steep. I wouldn't want to pay much over $30-35 for one, personally, which is the price range I got mine for about a year ago.
Customer Review: Great flashlight, just as described, but not a SureFire Summary: 4 Stars
I'm not sure if the reviewer who says "This Streamlight is brighter than a Surefire" has ever used a SureFire. Don't be fooled by the Lumen and Candlepower measurements; it's different for every manufacturer. The military uses SureFire, not Streamlight, so SureFire's measurements need to be more accurate. Side by side there is no comparison.
Nonetheless, this Streamlight is very bright in Xenon mode, and surprisingly bright in LED mode. It's no spotlight, but it's suitable for most normal tasks. Also, the lower price, selection between LED and Xenon, longer runtime, and adjustable beam definitely make it worth having at least one of these. Keep one in your glove compartment! Ladies, keep one in your purse! Possibly bright enough to stun an attacker, but I'd rather have a SureFire for that.
Seems very rugged and well made. A little bigger than I expected, but not that much. Also, one thing that's not specified is how the flashlight switches between LED and Xenon--using the same button, it switches On(LED)->Off->On(Xenon)->Off and repeat. Also, the "momentary signal" feature (pressing the switch slightly, but not all the way) is opposite of Mag Lite; it only lets you turn it OFF momentarily while the light is ON. However, this flashlight is simply way better and brighter than any Mag Lite (unless you want a giant club for safety).
Finally, even though the "Titanium" colored one looks black in the pictues, it's completely silver colored. Very light silver color at that.
Enjoy!
