Tools and Hardware Reviews of Streamlight 51015 TT-2L 2-Lithium Xenon/3-LED Twin-Task Flashlight, TitaniumCustomer Review: Great value for a dual light Summary: 4 Stars
I bought the Streamlight 51015 for the dual light capability for night flight (I'm a general aviation pilot.) High intensity for pre-flight, LEDs for supplemental interior light. I was also considering the Surefire Aviator A-2 (also a dual-purpose light, which costs $185, but gives the option of a fixed, different color light in different models - white, red, green, yellow-green - depends on your philosophy of which least affects your night vision.) I already have the Surefire P-6. In a side-by-side comparison of the Streamlight with the P-6 at night, I would say the P-6 is about 10% brighter (in high intensity mode.) The P-6 does not have LEDs, so there is no comparison there. The Streanlight's LEDs are somewhat brighter than I expected - and that would make the Streamlight a great light for walking at night and uses like that. I found the finish to be comparable to the Surefire - perhaps the Surefire is a tad better finished, but nothing that you would notice unless you're using a microscope. All in all - at $30 - the Streamlight is a great value. If the high intensity light had been as bright as the Surefire - I would have given it a 5 overall.
Customer Review: Nice Summary: 5 Stars
I like two modes of operations. It is very bright, excellent workmanship. It feels nice in a hand.
Customer Review: Nice light, but I prefer the PackMate Summary: 4 Stars
I used these TwinTask lights as my go-to flashlights for several years. These aren't top-of-the-line lights, but they do provide a great compact flashlight for the price. These were the lights that I kept in my glove box or thrown in with my camping gear before I discovered the PackMate lights.
One of the best things about these lights is the multiple output levels. They can be set to the low brightness setting that will give you excellent battery life for standard use, or they can be bumped up to a higher brightness if you need to really light something up. Unfortunately, this is also the most irritating thing about the light since the switch to toggle modes is a sequential push button; so you have to cycle through all the modes every time you turn the light on.
Just to be clear, the brightness/focus of this light definitely isn't as good as other lights that cost several times more money. But, for the price, I don't think they can be beat. If you are used to using any size MagLite (or comparable flashlight) instead of a top-of-the-line SureFire or Streamlight, then you will be amazed by the brightness of these.
Even with the irritating switch, I would still recommend the TwinTask flashlights if you absolutely need it to be black. If you are OK with either green or orange camo I would recommend the Streamlight PackMate lights instead. The PackMate lights are the same size as the TwinTask lights and they don't cost much more; but they have some improvements - including a much better switch and better brightness/focus.
Customer Review: Not worth it! Summary: 2 Stars
The xenon bulb is bright and powerful. The expensive lithium batteries only power it for a few hours, then your left with only the 3 LED bulbs which Streamlight claims give off 25 lumens. Nonsense! My mini maglite rated at 5.3 lumens easily outshine those LEDS by a wide margin.
Only useful in 2 hour XENON mode, useless in LED mode.
Customer Review: Package stripped of batteries Summary: 1 Stars
I ordered this item through Amazon and upon opening the shipping box, I found that hard plastic display package had previously been opened and the lithium batteries removed.
