Tools and Hardware Reviews of Streamlight 66318 MicroStream C4 LED Pen FlashlightCustomer Review: A great value and a brilliant light for its size Summary: 5 Stars
I have small police lights that cost ten times or more the price of this little light, but I seldom carry them because of their size. (Most are about an inch in diameter and four to six inches long.) I can clip this little light--barely bigger than its AAA battery--into the change pocket in dress pants' front pocket, and I hardly notice that it's there. It's bright enough to be really useful (though not bright enough to blind an attacker), and it fits in the hand well.
To decrease the weight and increase the battery life, I recommend Energizer's lithium AAA batteries: Energizer e2 Lithium Batteries - AAA by Energizer.
Customer Review: A superior penlight to the Gerber Infinity Summary: 5 Stars
I recently purchased both this Streamlight 66318 MicroStream LED Pen Flashlight and Gerber 22-80012 Infinity Ultra Task LED Flashlight, Black.
I much prefer the Streamlight to the Gerber Infinity: it is twice as bright; half as heavy; has a prettier white-blue type light; is about half the size; and uses a AAA batter as compared to a heavier AA.
I think they're both equally durable and capable of taking a 20ft fall.
Also only a buck more. This light is awesome.
Customer Review: AMAZED!!! Buy it now. Seriously. Summary: 5 Stars
I am completely in love with this flashlight. I've been carrying this flashlight (Streamlight 66318 Microstream LED pen Flashlight) every single day for the last four months solid. It has functioned perfectly in the roles of tactical light for everyday carry, secondary light for backpacking (after headlamp), and miscellaneous bumping around in the dark. It is ridiculously bright for a flashlight this small and light- I can illuminate the whole side of a house from across a 25-yard backyard and across a dirt alley! It is extremely durable with a very solid, quality feel to it, certainly believable as aircraft grade aluminum. It has gone on camping trips with me, being submersed in dirty rivers and mud; still works like a charm with zero signs of corrosion. The clip is designed simply but functions flawlessly for carry in my front pant pocket or shirt pocket. Do not let this picture fool you, it is very short, no longer than the width of my hand. It has a thumb-actuated, rubberized switch with raised traction bumps. The switch can be held and released at will for quick checks of your surroundings, or it can be clicked on or off for constant light. PERFECT everyday tactical light! In my opinion there is hardly any need to shoot beyond the range of this light for defensive purposes. As the battery nears the very end of its life, the brilliance will decrease slightly, hardly unnoticeable, until it flicks off for a split second every now and then before dying completely. This means the light is completely effective until the absolute end of the battery life. I didn't realize it had dimmed at all until I put in a new battery and it amazed me all over again. Buy it now with no regrets guaranteed. Buy two. I'm buying one for my girlfriend because she has gotten jealous and misses me when I'm not around to light up the night at a moment's notice.
Customer Review: Absolutely Awesome Summary: 5 Stars
Awesome Awesome Awesome. For a light this size the output is amazing. I just recently bought my first really good flashlight, a 2 aa Fenix LD20 that thing is amazing, but sometimes one just doesn't need tons of modes and options. I am starting to like smaller lights for ever day carry and this light is amazing. First of all it is really good looking. The matte black finish is nice and there is just a sexy look about this light that sometimes lights lack-- i.e. clunky, plastic, etc. The operation is simple and the light gives off approximately 20 lumen for 1.5 to 2 hours. I haven't tested this exactly, but I want to. It seems very durable... most good quality LED lights are now days because of high strength materials and the inherent durability of LEDs. I dropped this light (gasp) on the cement tonight and fretted because I baby all new toys, but quickly got over it and kind of want to throw it around some more now just to see how much it can take haha. It got a few nicks in the black anodization, but that just makes it look cool and used! Seriously though, this light doesn't seem like it would break/stop working unless you really are out to purposefully destroy it. I want to get some for presents and also want to try the bigger brother of this light, the streamlight stylus pro. I'm sure I'll like that light because it's basically the same, but uses 2 aaa batteries instead of one and has a ~7 hour run time. 7 hours???--- that's 2 hours more per aaa battery than this light... good job on engineering circuit efficiency whoever made that light. Yeah, I'm sure Fenix wins for efficiency in their flashlights, BUT... this light and the stylus pro are both under 20 dollars. I'm only 22, but I am amazed at what LED technology has done in terms of revolutionizing flashlights in recent years. 20 lumens is quite bright and you won't be disappointed--- Get this light or the stylus pro depending on what size/ number of batteries you want to use.
Customer Review: Amazing Little Light Summary: 5 Stars
This light is surprisingly bright for a single LED running off of one AAA battery. Looking at the light from a distance, the light appears to be coming from a much larger flashlight.
The aluminum housing it very light, yet feels durable.
I have fairly small hands, so the power button is not a problem; however one of my friends had a little difficulty getting it to click into the 'On' position.
It casts a fairly focused beam. The beam is not adjustable, but this keeps the light simpler and lighter.
I used this to run muddy trails in the dark and fog. The focused beam was great for looking out under the fog, and the light weight was barely noticeable while running.
