Tools and Hardware Reviews of Streamlight 66318 MicroStream C4 LED Pen FlashlightCustomer Review: Darn good little light. Summary: 5 Stars
This little thing has a useful study clip and the bulb is bright as hell.
If you're looking for an out of the way there when you need it light I recommend this one.
Customer Review: Disappointed... Summary: 2 Stars
I bought this flashlight a few weeks ago and thought right away that it was indeed as good as all the 4 and 5 stars suggested, and for a while there I was seriously thinking about buying a couple hundred dollars worth of them just so that I could put some smiles on people's faces on Christmas or at other times, just for the fun of it. Glad I didn't! ...
The first "incident" occurred when I turned it on a week or so after I got it and nothing lit up. I thought maybe the battery had gone out, though it seemed odd that it would go out 100% instantly instead of "somewhat" dimming to indicate that the juice was getting low. So I changed the battery and it worked fine, thus having me believe that it really was the battery after all.
But since that first time, it did it again. Thus, I did something different; I removed the battery and put it back in. It worked, the light went on! This made me think that I probably threw away a perfectly good battery the first time it happened. I don't know why it would do this, but I'm too lazy to wrap it up and send it back for a replacement. (If it does it a bunch more times then maybe I will.)
The other issue is that the rubber o-ring that's between the two metal parts constituting the body has squeezed out the side due to opening it to change the battery, thus it's now pinched and malformed so that the seal isn't what it should be. (I'm thinking about removing the o-ring and putting some heavy lithium grease on the threads to solve the problem.)
It's a shame that I've had these issues with it because it would otherwise be such an excellent little flashlight.
I would like to add that some folks have complained about the lanyard not being well suited for the flashlight. The way I look at it is that it's pretty generous of the manufacturer to toss in a high quality lanyard even though there's not any practical way to hook it to the flashlight. One can easily use the thing for something else, so -- like the battery they toss in -- consider it a bonus!
Customer Review: Every once in awhile Summary: 5 Stars
Every once in awhile a product comes along that does what the manafacturer claims it will do without any ifs, ands, or buts...this is one such product.
I use it while transporting animals overnight on 12 hour trips and it has functioned flawlessly. The end cap switch is easy to activate even with gloves and the light is extremely bright and focused. I have used it weekly at least every two hours during a 12 hour overnight trip and am still on the original battery.
I have a number of other similar lights and this one is by far the best of the bunch. I cannot believe the price is so reasonable and am convinced at twice the price it would be a bargain. It does not have a lot of bells and whistles. It just provides a bright, focused light with an easy to operate switch. They do not claim it will do more and in this day and time it is a real pleasant surprise to find something that performs as claimed.
Customer Review: Excellent EDC Light Summary: 5 Stars
This light slips easily into and out of your pocket and stays there virtually unnoticed; it is very light and compact. Stands up to all but the largest of impacts, though the casing will get scratched up fairly easily. Runs on 1 AAA for a good runtime... Battery replacements are few and far between and the light seems to be about the 20 lumens advertised - plenty bright enough for everything short of a tactical application.
I intend to buy several more of these for the family.
Customer Review: Excellent Light Summary: 5 Stars
I've had this light for about a week. I bought it with the intention of leaving it in my backpack (a smaller replacement for an aging mini-maglite). Well, the maglite is still in my backpack- the streamlight stays in my pocket. It is small and lightweight enough to be carried un-obtrusively. I'm amazed at how bright it is, and everyone who has seen it has wanted one. Great product, great price.
Update- six months later- still love it, probably more now than when I wrote the initial review. I use this daily, for so many things it's really hard to describe how functional this light really is, it's great!
