Tools and Hardware Reviews of Streamlight 66318 MicroStream C4 LED Pen Flashlight

Customer Review: Fantastic light - well worth the price
Summary: 5 Stars

With so many cheap, low-quality LED flashlights around, it's nice to find one that's solid and bright. My complaints against the low quality ones have been brightness and bad electrical connections through the body of the flashlight. I've had no problems so far! The switch seems reliable and the brightness is great. I compared it to a 9 LED cheap-o (which uses 3 AAA's), and this light was far brighter.

All-in-all, it's well worth the cost.

Customer Review: Flawless flashlight
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought both Stream flashlight 66118 and 66318. Both are near perfect. To my requirements, they are perfect. I have been using both over a month, average 10 minutes per night, and the amount of light still brightens the path completely. 66118 has 24 Lumens of light power where 66318 has 20 lumens. But you cannot tell the difference in amount of light-clearly. 66118 runs on two AAA batteries and 66318 runs on one AAA battery. Streamlight 66318 is almost half the length of 66118, diameter is the same, light power is almost the same. 66118 comes with a holster, 66318 comes with a neck lace.
The manufacturing quality is perfect. Black aluminium. Over a month usage, I carry them everywhere in my pockets and no signs of deterioration on finish or color.
I highly recommend both any of these if the job is not extremely demanding. I am fully satisfied with Streamlights, especially 66318 since it is half the size, easier to cary in pockets, and with one AAA battery has almost the same light power as 66118.

Customer Review: GREAT little flashlight! I will order another one!
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought many LED flashlights over the years, often skimping on the price and buying some knockoff from the E..y auction site only to have them die on me after a month or so. In the end, it cost me a lot more to buy cheap gear than to buy the right thing from the start.

This is a great little LED flashlight. It is BRIGHT, usable, solid
and good construction. You won't go search and rescue in the woods
with it but you will enjoy this one around the house or around the camp
when outdoors.

Note: it IS very bright and projects light at a surprisingly long distance. A month ago a transformer blew up in the electrical pole
over by my neighbor's house (The poles are in the back yard here).
When the electrical company came by, I just used my flashlight to show
them the busted transformer from the street (the next door house,
over the house at the end of their back yard which would be at least
100 feet from where I stood).

Highly recommended!

Customer Review: Garbage
Summary: 1 Stars

I own three of them all from different distributors and all three have defective tailcap switches! It does not live up to the streamlight name.

Customer Review: Good for the job it's built for.
Summary: 4 Stars

The Sreamlight Microstream is an excellent flashlight. In size, it is approximately the size and width of my index finger. Running on a single AAA battery, it has quite a decent light output (about 20 or so lumens if I remember correctly). One thing I have tested with this flashlight is its waterproofness, which isn't superb. I dunk the light into a cold glass of drinking water for about 3-5 seconds. Although the o-ring did its job and protected the tailcap components, I did find that some water had entered the bezel and rested in the interior of the lens for about 2 weeks until it finally evaporated out. Otherwise, this light is very solid. If you're looking for a medium-low output EDC light, this (or the Stylus Pro) would make a great choice. Given the choice between this and the Stylus Pro, I would opt for the Stylus Pro as it is slightly brighter, holds easier in hand, and has longer run-time. I still prefer brighter lights such as my personal favorite, the Fenix PD30, but these are bright and light enough to keep on my work outfit without reminding me that it's there at all.

Pros:
-Light
-Extremely Compact
-Decent brightness for its size
-Effective pocket clip

Cons:
-Not completely Waterproof
-Small size makes it a bit awkward to hold for some.
